Projecting over the waterfront with uninterrupted views of Fowey, this beautifully designed property in Polruan is a dream base for a family holiday on Cornwall’s south coast. Wander the steep, winding streets of Polruan, where time seems to slow down. Here, you’ll find a couple of welcoming pubs serving hearty meals, cosy cafes for a coffee break, and a handy village shop. Lace up your walking boots and set out along the South West Coast Path – the hike to the secluded sands of Lantic Bay (2 miles) is rewarded with far-reaching coastal views. Hop on the short ferry across the estuary to Fowey, a chic harbour town with independent shops, art galleries and a great selection of restaurants and pubs. For days out further afield, the fascinating Charlestown Harbour, Mevagissey the lush Lost Gardens of Heligan, and the iconic Eden Project are all within 12.5 miles.

Step into this cliffside retreat where comfort meets dramatic coastal scenery, and every detail has been designed to impress. The open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining space welcomes you with warm, handcrafted interiors and a sleek, high-end finish. A wall of bi-fold glass doors opens straight out over the water, drawing your eye to the ever-changing sea views and flooding the space with natural light. The lounge is the perfect place to unwind after a day by the coast, with stylishly comfortable seating and a Smart TV for cosy nights in. The dining area features a bespoke table with built-in bench seating, complete with embroidered cushions that add a touch of charm. In the kitchen, you’ll find everything you need to cook up a storm, and a clever bi-fold window opens from the kitchen onto the terrace, creating a bar-style setting for sipping something chilled as the sun sets. Head downstairs, and you'll discover two beautifully appointed bedrooms, both boasting glorious sea views. The master bedroom has been cleverly designed so you can watch the waves roll in as you wake and has its own en-suite shower room also with sea views and a built-in dressing area with hair dryer. The second bedroom offers twin zip-and-link beds (which can be made up as a king on request and have suitcase storage underneath both beds if made up into and king and on one bed if made up as a twin), built-in wardrobe and lovely river views. A lovely family bathroom rounds off the interior so you can enjoy a nice hot soak in the bath after a day of adventure.

Outside, the private terrace is a wonderful spot to unwind with those fantastic views. There's a built-in bench seating/sunbathing area, and of course, that fabulous kitchen window bar for alfresco dining. There is a heated outside shower to rinse yourself and your wetsuits after your sea swim or day out on the water. The property has private steps into the water, the use of a deep-water running mooring line for boats up to 6 metres in length. Guests are welcome to rent small boats or bring their own for their stay and discover Fowey as well as going up-river to Lerryn, Golant, or Penmarlam - please ask for details. There are paddleboard storage rails should you wish to bring a paddleboard. You can use the private steps at low tide to have a stroll over to the beach. Fabulous! We had a wonderful stay at Waters Edge in Polruan. The property was absolutely immaculate, and in the most amazing location with direct water access and is perfect for two. Everything is really high quality, and the kitchen is really well equipped. The views are gorgeous, and we loved chilling out on the terrace in the sunshine overlRead moreooking the estuary, and being able to get straight out on to the water with our paddle board and kayak. We had a lovely time exploring the inlets and popping across to Fowey. There are some clever design features to make the most of the space, including the bi-fold kitchen window that means you have a kitchen bar on the terrace - perfect for morning coffee, and evening G&Ts. We were a little nervous about needing to walk the last bit to the property, and lugging all our stuff (and water toys!) on foot but needn't have worried. You can drive down to the bottom of Battery Lane to West Street, unload all your stuff and then take your car back to the car park. It's not far to go with your stuff after that. Polruan itself is lovely, a couple of pubs, good village shop and bakery. There is a foot ferry that you can catch across to Fowey where there are loads of shops, cafes and restaurants but we loved being in the less touristy/less hectic village of Polruan. The owners were really accommodating and allowed us to have a late checkout which let us make the most of our break and to enjoy those stunning views for a bit longer. Hide
