Situated 5.5 miles from Richmond and the fringes of the Yorkshire Dales, the retreat is also 19 miles from edge of the North York Moors National Park. Head into historic Richmond to explore its pretty streets and cobbled marketplace. Potter in independent shops, dine out and visit the magnificent Norman castle. From here, stroll out along the River Swale for just over 1 mile to the remains of Easby Abbey. Pause at the old railway station afterwards for afternoon tea in the cafe. Plan a morning out to the historic Jacobean house of Kiplin Hall, 6 miles away, where you can also wander around the serene lake, woodland and parkland. Return from your Yorkshire excursions to make yourselves at home in this welcoming retreat. Step inside via the hallway, where you can hang your jackets and slip off your shoes. From here you can access the lovely family bathroom, or head on through into the kitchen to unpack any provisions you have sourced while out. Continue into the beamed lounge to relax on the soft seating as you catch up on your favourite programme on TV or chat about the exciting adventures of the day. An archway between exposed red-brick pillars leads through to the charming dining area where you can congregate at the table for your holiday meals and look out over the garden. The cottage was just lovely, well looked after and situated in a lovely village. I dont think we have ever seen a food parcel quite like the one received - thoughtful, kind and very tasty! Like all homes things go wrong - and it was just unfortunate timing that the oven did not work over the Easter weekend. We are mentioning in the review to highRead morelight that it was just bad timing, no fault of the owners who remedied the situation as fast as possible. Opting to have a whole oven replaced and working as quickly and possible, alongside offering to cook a roast chicken for Easter Sunday. They went above and beyond and we felt so welcomed. We would not hesitate to recommend. Situated in an accessible location for site seeing and it also has a beautiful enclosed garden. Hide

We recently stayed at this property as a group of four adults and a dog whilst visiting family locally. The property was exactly as describedclean, well-maintained, and well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The beds were comfortable, and the living space was welcoming. It was also great to find a genuinely dog-friendly pRead moreroperty. There was plenty of space for our dog, and everything had been thought of for furry guests. We have just returned from a week staying at Fox Cottage and the property is just what we hoped for. When we arrived we thought it was going to be smaller than we had expected however on entering we were pleasantly surprised. It retains a cosy charm with ample space. A well equipped kitchen leading into a charming lounge with additional bonus of a Read moredining area. The bedrooms are roomy and the bed was super comfortable. I didnt want to get up each morning. I was working from home at the cottage and the wifi is excellent. There is also a super secure garden which our 8 year old cocker spaniel was able to safely explore. Lots of information and helpful tips left around the cottage and we will definitely put this on our list of properties to rebook. Fabulous all round. Hide

This cottage was in a perfect location for our needs, close to good transport links and places for great days out. It was clean and comfortable and had everything in it that we needed. Things like plenty of toilet roll, tin foil and cling film made a difference to what we needed to bring/buy. The welcome pack was a lovely touch, chocolates, wine, tRead moreea, milk and dog treats. The sofas and beds were comfortable and bathrooms clean and the cottage was very warm and cosy. It was very dog friendly and loads of space to put our crate. Some fabulous places nearby for great dog walks, both in the village and beyond. Would recommend Kiplin Hall, Thorp Perrow Arboretum and Foxglove Covert. Would recommend this cottage, dont expect super modern, but definitely expect comfort and a feeling of being at home. Hide
