Occupying the lower section of a former threshing barn, this imaginatively updated retreat is a perfect hideaway for couples and smaller families keen to explore the beautiful northwestern corner of the Yorkshire Dales. Set on the owner’s smallholding, the property offers a wealth of breathtaking walks, with the River Rawthay passing close by. The cheerful town of Sedbergh (1 mile) is known for its independent shops, traditional pubs, narrow streets and historic buildings, with a market dating back to the 13th century. To the south, the beautiful Dentdale leads to the picturesque village of Dent (6.5 miles), home of the Dent Village Heritage Centre and Museum and a stop along the famous Settle to Carlisle railway line. For keen walkers and nature lovers, the cottage is ideally placed for access to both the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks.

Enter this thoughtfully updated retreat and head into the spacious lounge/diner, featuring stone walls and a characterful beamed ceiling. There’s a Smart TV, a coal-effect stove and comfortable seating, with a country-style dining table to the side. You’ll find the kitchen is fully equipped for holiday meal prep and boasts plenty of workspace and storage. The property has two delightful bedrooms to choose between. Both rooms offer zip-and-link super-king-size beds (can be made up as twins on request for added flexibility), one of which features an original exposed stone wall and full-length windows looking out towards the patio. Both bedrooms also have refreshing en-suites – one shower room and one bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Heading outside, the enclosed patio has plenty of garden furniture, offering a relaxing spot to sit out and dine alfresco on a sunny day. There’s also an enclosed field for dogs to run around, as well as a washing and drying room with a doggy shower. Guests are welcome to help feed some of the animals on the smallholding – please note that farm dogs and chickens roam freely. Off-road parking is available for two cars.

We had a wonderful week long stay in Boskins. The cottage itself was immaculately clean, incredibly comfortable, a real home from home. The location is stunning on one side you can enjoy the views of the Howgill Fells & just a short walk away down a field on Sam & Paul's small holding you can enjoy a walk along the river. The owners Sam & Paul are Read moreincredibly welcoming & the welcome pack was a real treat & thoroughly enjoyed! The cottage is also ideally located to explore the Yorkshire Dales & the Lake District, we spent most of the week exploring the Lakes visiting the Cumbrian Heavy Horses, Blackwell Arts & Crafts house, Hill Top, Lowther Castle, Levens Hall & we also enjoyed Ambleside, Coniston Water & Ullswater too! But the real stars of the hoilday were the wonderful animals, it was a real treat to be greeted on our return every afternoon by five wagging tails, the owners five dogs are very friendly & it really makes you feel more at home. The donkeys, Seren, Paddy & Albert are gorgeous! And the chickens were a delight! We are very much hoping to return to this beautiful place & would highly recommend it. Thanks Sam & Paul! Hide

A beautiful barn conversion, everything you need and nothing you don't. One small step to enter and no more inside, perfect for those with mobility issues. Well behaved dogs welcome and a convenient EV charger make this a perfect package. Unfortunately there is a short grass slope to access the fields and river which due to the wet weather made thiRead mores slippy and prevented my wife from enjoying this area. But it didn't stop me and our dog having fun there. All in all an excellent base from which to explore further afield. Thanks Paul and Sam for a very pleasant stay. Hide
