This traditional Suffolk cottage is the perfect hideaway for nature lovers seeking peace and quiet. Sleeping six guests and welcoming one dog, it boasts wonderful country walks and cycle trails from the front door. The village of Dunwich, with a vast shingle beach, a traditional pub serving fresh seafood and a cafe on the beach, is less than a mile away. Pay a visit to the popular Sauna Box, located next to the beach, perfect after a dip in the sea. Visit the Dunwich Heath and Beach Nature Reserve. Managed by the National Trust, this unspoiled area is home to rare plants and wildlife, including red deer and birds of prey. There’s an information hut, a children’s play area and lots of trails to explore. Visit RSPB Minsmere, one of the best bird-watching spots in the country (4 miles), and wander the scenic Suffolk Coast Path, which links Dunwich to the pretty seaside town of Southwold (6.5 miles).
A single-track lane shared with a next-door neighbour leads to your semi-detached holiday home. Leave boots and coats in the porch, and head into the bright kitchen, with simple white units and all the culinary aids you need to rustle up meals using local produce. Leading off the kitchen is the spacious lounge/diner, a lovely, cosy room full of natural light from the dual-aspect cottage windows and a French door which opens onto the garden. There’s a country-style wooden dining table with space for six and a choice of sofas offering comfortable seating. An original ceiling beam and thoughtful design touches add to the welcoming ambience. As there is no gas at this rural property, electric storage heaters provide warmth, while on cooler nights, you can light the log burner before watching TV or making plans for tomorrow. Please note there is also no Wi-Fi at the cottage. A shower room with a WC completes the ground floor. Upstairs, you’ll find the refreshing family bathroom and three inviting bedrooms: 2 double and 1 small double, dressed in soft shades, and all with superb country views.
Outside, the garden furniture offers a tranquil spot for al fresco dining and stargazing on clear nights in skies with minimal light pollution. There is parking for three cars on the driveway.
