Located in the heart of the Dorset National Landscape and just 8.5 miles from the world-famous Jurassic Coast, this charming cottage offers the perfect holiday base to couples and small families. Sleeping four guests, the property sits in the Dorset village of Stoke Abbott, where walking and cycling trails aplenty lead into the surrounding hills and towards the coastline. Just 4.5 miles away is Mapperton House, where you can explore the stunning grounds of the Jacobean manor and enjoy far-reaching views across the countryside. The county town of Beaminster (2 miles) boasts a good range of shops and eateries, as does the attractive market town of Bridport (6 miles). Heading to the coast, you’ll soon reach the dramatic shores of West Bay (8.5 miles), with its towering cliffs and huge beach. Here, you can join the scenic South West Coast Path to explore what is arguably the most dramatic stretch of the Jurassic coastline.

Before stepping into this gorgeous cottage, take a moment to appreciate its peaceful surroundings of rolling countryside and the sounds of nature. Head through the garden and into the property, kicking off muddy walking boots in the boot room. Move through to the inviting lounge where original cottage features such as exposed stone walls combine with a sleek colour palette and modern comforts. Settle here after days of Dorset adventure, flicking on the Smart TV or sinking into the sumptuous furnishings with your holiday read. For more relaxation, or perhaps a quiet moment, find the pretty snug where a crackling wood burner and more inviting seating offer the perfect spot for morning coffees or post-dinner snoozes. When it comes to cooking up your holiday feasts, find that the well-appointed, country-style kitchen/diner boasts everything needed for a self-catered break, including far-reaching rural views to enjoy as the chef works their magic. Gather at the wooden table here to eat or dine alfresco out on the patio when the weather permits. Completing the ground floor is a well-equipped family shower room. At the end of each busy day away, climb the cottage stairs to the first floor and uncover two splendid double bedrooms, both with sleek decors and verdant views. A family bathroom serves the bedrooms and completes the interior.

Outside, the cottage garden has a patio area with stone steps leading to an enclosed lawn surrounded by trees. Use the outdoor furniture here to dine alfresco on balmy days, and benefit from private parking for one car.

The cottage is in a lovely quiet spot away from the village so provided real peace. The nearby village ( Beaminster) has plenty of shops and nice cafes for perfect lunch or coffee. The beds are very comfortable and it was nice to have two bathrooms.lots of storage for clothes The furnishings are very stylish ( modern but also mid century touchesRead more)and the owners have retained their own personal touches which makes the house feel like a home and not a sterile holiday house. There is an extensive library if the weather is inclement or a smart TV to watch films in the evening The kitchen has plenty of cooking equipment and a very efficient stove. I really liked the abundance of crockery and enjoyed lovely meals inside and also in the garden. The shower is powerful and the bathroom upstairs has a lovely stand alone bath tub. Nearby there are places to walk our dog but we headed to beaches like Cobden and Charmouth which are gorgeous We also found so many wonderful villages a drive away like Sherborne ( amazing Abbey) and Cerne Abbas. The house is also in easy reach of the lively town of Bridport where there is plenty of culture and shopping Lyme Regis is also lovely and not too far for a day trip. We also discovered the hidden gem of Parham Park- beautiful garden and restaurant We really enjoyed discovering the joys of Dorset from this cosy and comfortable base. Hide

We did not have dogs with us, however the amount of fragrance reed diffuses was overwhelming for our human noses so poor doggies may suffer from this. We had to hide them in a cupboard and got them back out on us leaving. There were a few areas that could do with a deeper clean but nothing that would have ruined our holiday. The Beds were so comforRead moretable and having a downstairs shower as well as a bath upstairs was wonderful. Not much traffic went past the cottage, only sound to be heard was the bleeting of the sheep which was lovely. The instructions to get there and for our stay were complete and really helpful. In all a very relaxing holiday and a beautiful cottage with plenty of room. Hide

Rose Cottage was a warm and cosy place to stay; well located for Bridport (15 mins) and Beaminster (10 mins) on a quite lane near Stoke Abbott (nice pub). Sadly, the weather was unremittingly rainy so our plans for walks, with the dog, were rather curtailed.

Overall amazing peaceful cottage. It is down a single track rd but not far down. There is only room for one car which needs to go in the garage . I used the just park app and found parking up the road in a secure location for our second car. The cottage is warm and comfortable, the kitchen is equipped with everything you could need, just remembeRead morer to take some food to start with as the shops are a drive away. But in the near town you can find everything. We were blessed with good weather but if not there is a handy boot room to dry yourself and the dogs. The staircase is wooden some might find it a challenge but once upstairs the bedrooms are beautiful. The views are amazing, the peace and quite priceless. The only neighbours were the sheep! Hide
