Located in the heart of Wooler, Padley’s Place is an elegant three-storey home that blends period charm with contemporary comfort. Once home to the town’s long-serving pharmacist, it has been thoughtfully restored to create a stylish and welcoming retreat. With views over the high street and neighbouring church — and Wooler’s shops, pubs, and walking routes just steps away — it’s perfectly placed to enjoy the best of this bustling market town. Wooler is a brilliant base for exploring Northumberland, whether you’re heading into the Cheviot Hills, exploring the coast, or soaking up the local atmosphere. Known as the ‘Gateway to the Cheviots’, the town offers independent shops, friendly pubs, and local restaurants, along with a nine-hole golf course and the excellent Ad Gefrin Anglo-Saxon Museum and Whisky Distillery. The Northumberland National Park is just moments from the doorstep, offering miles of scenic trails for walkers and cyclists. If you’re exploring by car, Bamburgh Castle and beach, Holy Island, and the Ford & Etal Estate all make for unforgettable day trips.

Stone steps lead up to the front porch and boot room, a handy spot for outdoor gear, followed by a welcoming hallway with space for coats. At the heart of the home is a spacious and beautifully finished kitchen-diner, perfect for relaxed breakfasts or leisurely dinners beside the wood burner. A convenient WC is located just off the hallway.

On the first floor, you’ll find two lounges, each offering something a little different. The first is calm and inviting, with dual-aspect windows overlooking the church and high street — an ideal spot for morning coffee, a quiet read, or a glass of wine at the end of the day. Shelves are filled with books to browse, and there’s even a computer available if needed. The second lounge has a more playful energy, with a Smart TV, PlayStation 4, and DVD player perfect for film nights, games, or simply unwinding after a day of exploring. This floor also features a comfortable king-size bedroom with views of the church, and a stylish family bathroom with a freestanding bath, walk-in shower, and WC.

The top floor has two further bedrooms: a bright twin and a charming double with far-reaching countryside views. The double room also features a telescope which is ideal for stargazing and making the most of Northumberland’s famously dark skies. A separate shower room with WC completes the upper level.

While the property doesn’t have a private garden, its central location means you’re just steps from Wooler’s open spaces and benches, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or catching the afternoon sun. Property itself is fantastic. Spotlessly clean, really well equipped and very comfortable. Can see a lot of time and money has been put into the renovation of this building. Nothing much the owner can do about the house being adjacent to the Church - bells ringing might be more of an issue for others than it was for us. Also not the owners fault thRead moreere's a dearth of nice pubs in the town. Recommendations for the Milan restaurant, Ad Gefrin and Percy Arms in Chatton were spot on. We had a great stay and found the house very comfortable and had everything we needed. There is plenty of space to spread for a whole family to be able to have room. The house had everything we needed and was well positioned for access to the Co-op, pubs and a fab Italian. We would recommend packing some ear plugs, especially if you like the wRead moreindows open, as the church clock across the road chimes every hour. Hide

Padleys Place is an amazing find; fantastic location, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Theres no allocated parking but an abundance of options, we were able to park 2 cars very close to the accommodation. The main lounge area is a wonderful place to unwind at the end of the day and is stacked with books and games, while the PlayStation and VR heRead moreadset in the second lounge was a big hit with the kids. It has a great rural feel whilst still being close enough to amenities to pick up any forgotten items or head out for a meal (we recommend Milan Restaurant). The cottage at Padleys Place in Wooler was a delight. Spotlessly clean, spacious, and airy. The main living room looks lovely in the pictures but doesnt do it justice it is glorious. So much light and just a fantastic classy, elegant space to read in and enjoy planning your days out. Mattresses are of a high quality as is the bedding Think 5-sRead moretar hotel and youre on the money. Location itself is ideal for exploring Northumberland especially easy for Holly Island and Bamburgh Castle and the beaches. A stunning place to stay - it was absolutely perfect for us and its so homely. Everything is done to such a high standard. Everything is right on the doorstep with shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants all within a few minutes walk. We will definitely be back!

We (x2 adults, x2 teens, x1 dog) absolutely loved our stay at Padley's Place, Wooler. The house was beautifully furnished and decorated, loads of little touches and nods to the local area, and the history of the building, which made it feel cosy and homely. Extremely comfortable beds, and spacious bathrooms with good showers. Location was really Read morehandy, being just across the road from the shop, and all the amenities of the town. We had a couple of really lovely breakfasts at The Terrace just across the road, who were also very welcoming to our dog! Half an hour to several beautiful beaches, and close to the Cheviots where we enjoyed a few walks. (Some of us took on more strenuous hikes than others). Hide

Four adults had 4 nights at Padleys Place and I genuinely dont think weve ever hired a more perfect accommodation from Holiday Cottages. It was spotless, all the utensils and facilities you could wish for in the kitchen, comfortable beds, great showers and strong WiFi!
