Escape with your loved ones to this beautifully preserved historic home sitting on the outskirts of the historic town of Battle. Sleeping ten people across five bedrooms, this is an ideal accommodation choice for families or groups of friends who want to get together in East Sussex to celebrate a special occasion together. Spend a lovely day exploring the legendary Battle Abbey and Battlefield (0.5 miles) – every October, Battle Abbey hosts a large re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings, complete with knights in armour, archery displays, and medieval crafts. If you’re in need of a stroll, grab your hiking boots and set off to discover the 650 acres of woodlands in Brede High Woods (6 miles). Battle Museum of Local History has artefacts from the Battle of Hastings and other historical exhibits.

In the evening, come home to the house’s large garden and host a stylish al fresco dinner for your loved ones. Take your spot in the private parking area (there’s room for six cars) and head to your delightful, period residence. Step inside and you’ll find plenty of place to store your outdoor gear in the entrance hall. Along the hallway, you’ll find a bright country-style kitchen with an informal breakfast table and a cosy open fire. Continue to the spacious main lounge and you’ll find an elegant Georgian-style space with generous seating and a charming wood burner. Off the lounge, there’s a dedicated games room with a table tennis table, which the kids are sure to love. Completing the ground floor, there’s a handy shower room. Upstairs, five beautiful bedrooms with antique furniture await – one super king-size, three king-size, and one twin. One of the king-size rooms has its own en-suite shower room – and it’s conveniently accessible via a lift for wheelchair users. The lift will also fit an additional person alongside the wheelchair. Completing the layout, two bathrooms with showers over the baths serve the remaining bedrooms.

Open up the French doors from the lounge and head out into the garden, which offers picturesque views across Battle, including the famous Abbey. The garden is adjacent to a neighbouring property with long-term tenants, There are also two lovely balconies from two of the bedrooms that offer lovely views towards the sea over the Abbey.

Caldbec House was a perfect house for the family to use between Christmas and January. We loved the large rooms, fireplaces and house amenities such as washing machine, coffee machine etc.

Fascinating property filled with interesting art and artefacts. Large dining area and comfortable lounge. The lounge TV is small for the size of room. Excellent games room, especially for table tennis and online gaming. Kitchen area is proportionally small, especially for a foody family. Hidden step on upstairs landing could be better lit or definRead moreed. Property was warm, spacious with plenty of hot water. Hide

The "cottage" ( a Historic family home!) was well equipped, very clean and spacious with a lovely rear garden ideal also for dogs and with a view of Battle Abbey! Reasonable provision for a disabled person dependant upon the disability. A most useful lift to a spacious first floor bedroom. Enough bedrooms to nicely cater for our party of nine.
