Surrounded by the rolling Staffordshire countryside, the village of Onecote is the perfect base for exploring rugged landscapes, historic sites, and family-friendly attractions. Animal lovers will enjoy meeting the friendly residents at Oak Moor Farm and Peak Wildlife Park, both within 3 miles, while Monkey Forest (22 miles) promises plenty of monkey mischief with its 140 free-roaming Barbary macaques. Pull on your walking boots and take to The Roaches (7 miles). This wildlife-rich Site of Special Scientific Interest beckons eager climbers with dramatic gritstone edges and breathtaking views, while Chrome Hill and Parkhouse (9 miles) provide rewarding hikes across the ‘Dragon’s Back’ ridge. Thorpe Cloud (11.5 miles) rises beside Dovedale’s famous steppingstones for a gentler stroll. Other attractions include Croxden Abbey (12 miles) or Tissington Hall (12 miles) before returning to the thriving town of Leek to browse its historic markets and unwind in a cosy pub.

As you enter this homely retreat, you will soon notice timeless decor, country-style furnishings, and plenty of cosy nooks in which to curl up. Step inside the welcoming reception room, where a large, eight-seater dining table provides plenty of evenings of celebratory meals and leisurely breakfast buffets. There’s even a wood burner here for unwinding with board games in front of the dancing flames. Venturing further into the home will bring you into the farmhouse kitchen, adorned with white cabinets and modern appliances. After devouring a meal made from the ingredients you picked up on your travels, get stuck into a few pages of the newest bestseller in one of two sun-lit conservatories or hunker down in front of the fire in the living room. The pillowy sofas and Smart TV make this a brilliant setting for a film night. Continuing on the ground floor brings you to a charming double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, which is perfect for those needing a bit of extra privacy. Discover three more bedrooms on the first floor. A double bedroom and a zip-and-link super-king-size room also boast en-suite shower rooms, while a pretty bunk room provides a fun sleepover-style evening for excited kids. The well-appointed family bathroom finishes off this floor with a bath, shower and WC.

Spend each morning blissfully soaking in the sunshine in the enclosed garden, whether around the front of the house or to the back. Sip your morning brew at the bistro seating before firing up the BBQ for a sizzling breakfast feast. There is private parking for three cars.

Beech House was very comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. We only had breakfast in the house so we didn't use very much equipment, apart from the dishwasher. We were very comfortable but I would recommend bringing slippers as walking barefoot on coir (?) rugs is not high on my list of preferred activities! The walk to the Jervis ArmRead mores is exactly the right distance to ensure enough thirst and appetite to enjoy their excellent beers and food without requiring an effort to get back home. There are enough places to visit nearby to make us want to come again. Mehek restaurant alone is worth staying at Beech House for. Overall a great place to stay with a group of friends or family. Lovely comfortable and warm cottage, with a great pub down the road. Great for a family get together, with all the main places within a scenic 30 min drive. Owner was very attentive and quick to respond with any queries. Would definitely stay again

A lovely, homely house, spotlessly clean and in a nice quiet location on the edge of a very small village. And a friendly and helpful host. Recommended
