Book a stay at this comfortable stone cottage in Ambleside and enjoy your proximity to the town as well as many of the Lake District’s beauty spots. Sleeping four guests in two bedrooms, the property is less than 200 metres from shops, cafes and restaurants. Walk 1 mile to the edge of the magnificent lake or catch a horse-drawn carriage from the town; experience the beauty of the surroundings from a lake launch or hire a self-drive motorboat and explore for yourselves. Find plenty of places along the shores of Lake Windermere to try your hand at windsurfing, paddleboarding or canoeing. Plan a 4-mile walk to Grasmere then stop for a cup of tea and a slice of gingerbread before heading home.

Enter this property via its porch, where you can hang your jackets and leave your shoes before finding yourselves in the lounge. Unwind in here together as you watch the Smart TV which has Freesat, or choose a film to enjoy on the Blu-ray DVD player in the warmth of the coal-effect gas fire. Stream your music via the Bose streaming device, as you chat about your holiday activities. Make your way into the kitchen/diner to prepare something tasty to eat. There is a double electric fan oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Lay the table and sit down to jolly meals together. Follow the open-tread staircase up to your bedrooms and bathroom on the first floor. Discover one of the bedrooms has a double bed while the other, up one step, is a twin with an impressive outlook. Another step up leads to the family shower room, which has a WC.

Step out through the French doors on warm days to soak up the sunshine in the fresh air. Dine on the private patio or watch the children playing in the shared garden. There is extra storage and equipment in the outhouse off the patio and provisions for two bikes in a larger stone building at the top of the garden. Parking for one small to medium car, with possible extra space for another car in the garage.

If I ever get back to Ambleside then this is where I would stay again. Sunnydene is easy walking distance from the Ambleside shops (about 3 minutes) with a parking spot for a car if you need it. The place is very suitable for walkers allowing them to leave their dirty boots and wet clothing drying in the entranceway, leaving the rest of the house fRead moreree of such things so you can focus on other things! The kitchen is very well appointed with full height fridge, oven + hobtop, dishwasher and washing machine. Sunnydene is at the north end of Ambleside so you are at the gateway for easy walks to Grasmere and doing the Fairfield Horseshoe. It was nice and quiet. Great location, porch was great to dry clothes. Nice size, nice views from bedroom window. Kitchen was well stocked, bar the cleaning cloth and extra pan. Clean bedding and towels.

Very comfortable peaceful cottage in handy location. Perfect for visitors like ourselves without a car as easy access to buses and Windermere train station.

Thank you for a wonderful stay at Sunnydene. Everything all under one roof at this cottage. We were lucky with the weather and so enjoyed the outside area in the evenings. Lots to do in Ambleside and Sunnydene is one of our favourite cottages. Look forward to staying again.

This was our second time staying at Sunnydene. It is a quiet location but only a few minutes walk into Ambleside, the Golden Rule pub is very nearby, and you can do plenty of nice walks from the door. Well equipped, clean, cosy and comfortable and the owners have provided lots of helpful maps and walking books to refer to.

Among the best furnished and equiped, all high quality items, that we have had - just like (better than?) being at home. A really snug and warm Lakes slate cottage just two minutes walk from Ambleside centre, yet so quiet here. Parking acceptable in a group of Victorian workers cottages, just chat with the neighbours. We will be back here on our neRead morext Lakes break. Hide

This cottage is situated in an ideal location. It has a lovely little garden and the cottage is immaculate. We would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet place even though its close to the shops, walks and pubs. There is also a very good bus service.

Well equipped cottage situated in a good location, clean and most welcoming. Plenty of places close by for eating out. Shops close by. Central for getting about and touring the lakes.
