Nearby attractions for walkers include Wansfell Pike (1.5 miles), Red Screes (4.5 miles) and Stock Ghyll Force (2.5 miles). Heading south, the town of Windermere (3 miles) lies on the shores of the lake and has some welcoming places to eat and drink. The cottage is also ideal for visiting Coniston Water and Ullswater (both 10 miles).

Entering this pretty cottage, you will find yourself in the cosy and inviting first lounge. Retaining original features including exposed ceiling beams, oak floor, a window seat and an open fire, this is a lovely space to relax in. A great space to curl up with a good book, this room also has plenty of comfortable seating and a Smart TV tucked away in one of the built-in cupboards. A second lounge also offers a Smart TV and plenty of seating, ensuring there’s ample space for the whole family to sit back and unwind. Exploring further, the light and attractive country-style kitchen is equipped with an electric oven, induction hob, microwave, two larder fridges, a freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Originally the farm’s laundry, the dining room has a vaulted ceiling and makes a lovely space for you to all gather together. Going upstairs, you will find three tastefully decorated and beautifully furnished bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, feature fireplace, plenty of storage space and a relaxing en-suite bathroom with a free-standing cast-iron bath and WC. There’s also a charming king-size room, and a delightful twin room which can be made up as a super-king-size on prior request. This room also has its own en-suite WC. Finally, there’s a handy family bathroom complete with a shower over the bath and a WC.

Beautiful cottage in a pretty village close to Lake Windermere. Bedrooms were very comfortable, kitchen well equipped and we really liked having a separate TV room. Plenty of space for six adults. We had a lovely holiday here.

The house is very comfortable, warm and very well equipped. Loads of hot water. Tricky reversing out of drive, quite narrow. Have stayed in many properties in the lakes over last 20 plus years and this was definitely one of the better ones . Would stay again

This is a beautiful period cottage set in an ancient hamlet. It was comfortable and perfect for a weekend of walking and water activities. There is a small shop/cafe just opposite and a pub just a short walk away. We only ate out once, the kitchen is well equipped for home cooking. There is a beautiful garden with seating. The capricious Lakeland wRead moreeather does not always provide sunshine so we only sat out once. Hide

This is the second time weve stated Burkett House and it feels like a home away from home for us when were visiting the lake District. Everything was highly satisfactory and we thank you so much!

A great cottage which suited our needs perfectly! Very pretty garden at the back with nice sunny areas. Quite a few, but characteristic of an old property, little steps and low ceilings to be careful of! Parking a little tricky having to reverse in!
