Escape to this charming, traditional cottage nestled in the picturesque village of Grasmere, perfect for a tranquil Lakeland retreat. Dating back to 1821 this delightful period cottage accommodates four guests and is situated a short level walk from the heart of Grasmere village, just 4 miles from Ambleside. The village offers a variety of independent shops, galleries, and eateries, including the famous gingerbread shop. You’re free to enjoy the scenic walks around Grasmere Lake and Rydal Water, explore the Wordsworth Daffodil Garden, or embark on a ramble from your doorstep, such as the trails up to Silver How and Loughrigg or over to Elterwater. A short drive to Ambleside provides additional shopping, dining, and pub options. Extend your adventures by visiting Lake Windermere, 12 miles south, where you can take a cruise on England’s largest lake, walk, cycle, or try various water sports. The charming market town of Keswick is 12 miles north.

Unload your bags at the front door and step inside this delightfully renovated 19th-century cottage. The open-plan kitchen/dining room is truly the heart of the house, and amply equipped with everything you need to dine in and entertain. Just off from here, you can also find the utility room, with a washer dryer and separate WC. On the same floor sits the enchanting lounge, with plenty of seating for four. Evenings can be enjoyed cosied up in front of the wood burner whilst watching your favourite film. Up the staircase lies the first of the two bedrooms, a delightful super-king size bedroom which makes use of the family bathroom, complete with a tub-style bath and walk-in shower. The master bedroom is a spacious king-size with a stunningly tiled en-suite bathroom with shower over bath.

Beautifully complimenting the interiors of this property is the cottage garden. Set into the side of the fell, the garden is the perfect place to sit back and soak up the sunshine whilst lunch is enjoyed alfresco.

We loved the cottage - one of the nicest we have stayed in over many years of holidaying in the Lake District - very well positioned just outside Grasmere - with multiple walks from the front door. Excellent and we'd love to return sometime soon.

We stayed at Silverhowe Lodge for a week with family over New Year. This has always been my dream Grasmere cottage, so finally staying here felt like a real treat. The photos really do not do it justice. The lodge is far more spacious inside than expected, while still feeling incredibly cosy and homely. It was beautifully warm throughout our stay,Read more and coming downstairs to the underfloor heating each morning was such a pleasure. The kitchen is a fantastic space for entertaining and was perfect for our New Year break. We love cooking and baking, and it was extremely well equipped for everything we needed. The bedrooms were spacious and thoughtfully decorated, and the bathrooms were finished to a very high standard. They were a welcome indulgence after long winter walks. The welcome basket was much appreciated, as were the starter logs and fuel for the fire, which added to the comfort and charm of the stay. Overall, Silverhowe Lodge exceeded our expectations and felt like a true home from home. We will definitely be booking again and very much look forward to returning. Hide
