Cottage was great and exactly what we needed for a few days. The local pub, bakery and butchers superb. Cottage very comfortable. Garden added bonus as we have a dog and were blessed with dry weather so could have a drink outside.

A comfortable and characterful mid-terrace 4-tier stone cottage with good facilities in a convenient location for accessing the southern Lake District. The charming town of Ulveston with its bespoke art and craft shops, cafes, and galleries, is only 3 miles away. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed walking our dog alongside the estuary, witRead moreh its spectacular scenery. The local fish and chips shop is highly recommended, and there is an ice cream parlour and bakery nearby. We didn't manage to visit the Ship Inn, but its a short stroll down the road. What made our working holiday very special was the very friendly residents. Hide

The cottage is very well equipped with all that is needed for a comfortable stay, and the location is great - really accessible for beaches and the southern lakes. The butchers, bakery and pub in the village are a bonus, and there is also a fish n chip shop and ice cream parlour too. Selective opening times but great to have. Our dogs loved going aRead morecross the footbridge over the estuary and onto the saltmarsh in the evenings. The stairs in the cottage are steep and narrow but there are very good handrails. We loved our stay at Lymm Cottage, it was the perfect base for us on the edge of the lakes to explore. The house was clean and comfortable, the water was piping hot and the beds were super comfortable. The kitchen was fab, having everything you could need and more. The only thing we could really fault was that the bath plug was missing so we had toRead more be inventive to be able to use it (3 kids 5 and under so we really could have done with it). The description doesn't state there is a dishwasher- which there is! There is also a travelcot and hairdryers in the rooms so you wouldn't need to bring these with you! The bakery around the corner is amazing - would definitely recommend a visit to pick up a cake and coffee, and the butchers was very friendly, quality was fab and well priced. Hide

Lovely little cottage in small village location, loved the quirkiness of the house once we got used to the low ceilings coming down stairs! House was great for the 4 of us and our little dog we loved the kitchen and it was fab to sit with the stable door open playing cards at the table on an evening. As for the area, unfortunately the village pub iRead mores closed now which is a shame. However there is an absolutely amazing bakery just around the corner I think it was called the bakehouse, delicious! Hide

Excellent value for money, would recommend! Short distance from the South Lake District. The baker across the street and the local pub are gone. Small shopping can be done in Ulverston and Kendal is 25min away for everything else. The top staircase and bed in the master bedroom are for short people. The lounge could be a bit cosier, we spent most oRead moref our time in the kitchen level which was very nice, I cooked every day. WiFi is excellent, which was great because network coverage isnt. The house is lovely and very quirky with lots of nice features and decor. The stairs are narrow and steep but have good handrails and our parents in their 70s had no issues. If you are taking a large dog a crate is a good idea to save them going up and down stairs a lot. Plenty of room in the kitchen for a large crate. The bakery, fish and chip andRead more ice cream shops are all excellent. Hide

A nice cottage good value for money , clean and tidy . The three flights of windy could prove difficult for some people , at least the back door went straight into the kitchen on the bottom level , good for our dogs . The neighbour was not particularly friendly . The chip shop round the corner was excellent but only opens form 16.30 until 19.00 .
