Rise and shine in this lovely home and head straight from your door for fun-filled, family-friendly days out to remember. If ‘up’ is the direction which takes your fancy, climb St Sunday Crag or Catstycam, both 3 miles away with panoramic views, or take a well-trodden path from the village up to the mighty Helvellyn range taking in Swirrel Edge and Striding Edge. Wander down to the lakeside and hop on a traditional Ullswater Steamer which journeys between Glenridding, Pooley Bridge and Howtown and can also drop you off at Aira Force (3 miles) where you can discover the tumbling waterfall. Further afield, close to Windermere Lake, Kirkstone Pass is 7.5 miles from home and the place to visit if you’re a keen mountain biker.

Make your way through the courtyard and into the welcoming kitchen/diner which boasts terrific views up to Glenridding Dodd and has all you need to cater for every occasion. Spacious and light, spend time at the table with a morning brew and a ponder over a map of the local area to make plans for the day ahead. With seating for four guests, enjoy communal meals at the dining table and time spent together. For some downtime, switch on the TV or pop your favourite DVD on and sit back, relax and stay warm by the wood burner. On the odd rainy day or evenings in, get competitive over a board game or a puzzle. Climb stairs to the first floor where the two bedrooms await and offer comfortable spaces in which to drift off. One is configured as a super-king (which can be made as a twin on request at time of booking), the other is a double; both rooms are light and bright with a lovely, calm ambience. Step down from each room to the shower room.

Boasting wonderful, dramatic views, the patio garden is a great place to sip tipples and fill your lungs with fresh air. Sharing a path with other cottages on the terrace, wander down to the car in your designated parking space.

It was great to be honest and just what we expected and no hidden things come to mind. It was how it was explained when I booked it.

Well equipped small cottage close to shops & pubs, and a great place to start several walks. I wouldn't recommend eating at the local pubs, it is very much out of the freezer at rather high prices and zero atmosphere. The local shops are however good. This is probably the first rental in which I have found a pepper grinder. Five stars for that. TheRead more views from the cottage aren't great, but a short walk down to the pier more than makes up for that. Hide

Location of cottage is superb and lots of local walks on the doorstep. Parking spot is a bonus anywhere in the Lakes. Very well equipped, decor a little dated but clean and tidy.

Great location just short walk to lake and local amenities. Cottage has lovely little garden which gets the sun most of the day and was lovely to sit and relax in. Lots of equipment and tea towels cloths and cleaning products, handy having a washing machine as well with a little one. The stairs are quite steep which isnt uncommon in older cottages Read morebut having to hand rails really helped with going up and downstairs. Hide

Loved the place, great situation, but the parking space is small. Would have stayed on for the weekend which showed up as available, but asking price was over 600 which was almost what we paid for a week.
