We had a great stay here but agree with other reviews that there are some cleaning issues that need addressing. The views from the front are amazing, if you are into industrial history then the port view at the back is also good. Ideal base for exploring Northumberland. Disappointing first impression, driveway overgrown with weeds on mono blocks, some quite high, plants needed pruned, front door filthy in need of a good clean, doormat seen better days, could do with replacing. Advertised electric gate looks like it hasn't worked in years and looks broken. Door key had tied elastic band around it , no keyring. ORead moren opening the door we were met with the overpowering smell of air fresheners, this triggered a migraine for me and my husband had to check the whole house for the diffusers - all 9 of them and put them in the garage which had no light bulb! Wall next to downstairs shower room needs painted, poly-filled but not painted over. Bi-fold doors need cleaned as does does the glass on the balconies, cobwebs, bird droppings. Had to roughly clean a couple to see out clearly. No balcony furniture or gas BBQ like a neighbouring rental. Cooker hood not working, doesn't look like it has worked in years. Lack of wine glasses, only 3 large dirty ones, but an abundance of pint glasses and champagne flutes! Welcome pack was a starter kitchen and bathroom pack but most people bring their own. Information pack needs updated with correct WiFi code and could do with advising where to dispose of glass bottles as you can't put it bins, no recycling at property. Lack of small pans, only 2 large pans that the handles get incredibly hot, no oven gloves No instructions for appliances No instructions where you need to take glass bottles to as the property has no glass recycling, nearest one is near Morrisons No TV in rooms, could have one in master bedroom along with sofa instead of a mirror that looks out of place, would be more suited to a dining room Shower base slippy, take a bath mat, water also tends to soak floor making it slippy and bath mat wet before you even stand on it. Black mould at edge of ensuite shower and grouting needs replaced in both upstairs bathrooms. Bath panel needs repaired, grouting on floor in need of deep clean and/or replaced as it isn't cream like other parts of the room. No access to top floor room , told this a few days before arrival ,with no explanation as to why, but it is still being advertised as having a top floor room! Why? No access to ground floor room which leads onto back garden. Why? Back garden a disgrace and uninviting, garden furniture that hasn't been cleaned in years, could be nice and a great area for children to play and adults to chill. Would need a gate at back for security so children couldn't just wander off. Water pressure in showers not great, shower head needs cleaned in both bathrooms Overpowering pungent smell of the numerous diffusers scattered around the place, not really required unless it is to cover up something (ie damp) or make it feel fresh and clean Positive points Great American style fridge freezer Great views from balcony Walking distance to sandy beach Walking distance to small Co-op, Greggs, ice cream parlour, chip shop and bar/bistro Good base to explore region Overall okay but not worth the money they are asking. Better attention to detail when cleaning. After all first impressions count!! Hide

The location of this cottage is superb with fabulous views across the bay. Wonderful to sit near balcony with patio doors open wide watching sunrise and sunset. The patio has no furniture to sit outside but we used our foldable beach chairs. The kitchen is very well equipped and the dining space great for families. The lounge furniture could do witRead moreh an update as it is very low to sit on and requires a clean. The sea view is fantastic, the sea is fabulous there, the view out the back windows not so good! Theres a nice chain pub which serves good food less than a mile away, the bath doesn't hold water so take your own rubber plug!

This house was just right for a party of family and friends attending a wedding nearby. Fantastic views along the beach (some of us braved the sea one evening!), very well equipped, plenty of space in the living room. I would definitely recommend it.
