Set in the small, picturesque village of Langton Herring, which is one of the few doubly "Thankful Villages" in England as records show that all men returned from both First and Second World Wars. The village has wonderful views of Chesil beach, this stylish property is the ideal base for a family holiday. There is a wide network of walking routes nearby, including the Southwest Coast Path. Weymouth is only 6 miles away and has a sandy beach backed by shops, cafés, and restaurants, and the old harbour is worth a visit, where you can try your hand at fishing or take a boat trip. Those wishing to delve into local history can explore the Victorian Nothe Fort and the ancient ruins of the cliffside Sandsfoot castle. Other places of interest are Abbotsbury, 4 miles away, and Bridport, Burton Bradstock, and the Isle of Portland are within 15 miles. Just a stone's throw away lies the charming Elm Tree Inn, a perfect place to end your day with classic, homemade pub food.

A pathway leads from the lane to the entrance into this terraced cottage. Once inside you are met with a striking lounge immediately to your right. This characterful room has an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner and a Smart TV. Leading off of here is a comfortable twin bedroom (which can be made as a King size on request at time of booking). Heading further into the cottage brings you to the split-level kitchen diner. The kitchen area is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. A rear hallway gives access to a shower room with WC and a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Heading back through into the lounge will bring you to the steep cottage-style staircase, which leads to the first floor. There is a choice of two inviting bedrooms on this level, one is the master bedroom with a super-king size, and the other is a double. An additional pull out single bed, suitable for a child is available on request at time of booking. A further steep flight of stairs takes you up into the eaves of the property and to a stylish bathroom with shower over bath and WC. Due to the age of the property, there are some areas of restricted head height throughout, which only adds to its character and charm.

A door leads from the rear hallway into the garden. There is a patio area with comfortable seating and a fire pit adjacent to the cottage and a path leads up into the cottage-style garden and a further patio area with furniture which is ideal for dining. To the rear of the property is an off-road parking space suitable for 1 car.

The village itself is delightful and the ideal base for visiting so many beautiful places in Dorset. It's a very quiet and peaceful village but it gives easy access by car to all the places we wanted to explore. We also had a very positive experience of booking the holiday and communicating with the owners, who provided useful introductory information to help us make the most of our stay. St Anthony's Cottage really does stand out as a particularly lovely and special holiday cottage, and we would love to stay here again in the future. Hide

The cottage was easy to find and well presented. Fire made ready for use in log burner. Pint of milk ready in fridge with coffee and teabags much appreciated as Waitrose order not until 6pm. Stairs steep and narrow to first and second floor so ground floor bedroom useful for 8 month pregnant daughter. Toilets from any bedroom are a walk up some sort of steps which is not ideal at night. Cottage lovely and warm and well equipped with a washing machine and dryer. Location great. You can walk from the front door on many circular walks. Very wet and soggy but nonetheless beautiful scenery across the Fleet and out to sea. Bonus of a working forge on the doorstep as well as a Community pub. If you need the loo in the night I would not recommend this Cottage, otherwise it is a lovely place to take time out . Hide

Lovely cosy cottage in a really pretty, quiet village. The house was perfect for 4 adults, 2 pre teens and our dog. Amazing walks down to the coast, 10mins from a pub and village shop and so much to do right in the door step.
