Property code: OC-PC046

This charming cottage, set over three floors is perched conveniently on Quay Hill in an excellent position in the heart of the bustling village just on the edge of the beautiful Fowey harbour with the village café, 2 pubs and local shop on your door step. Polruan still retains all of its original character as a working village with the traditional boatyard nearby which dates back to the Armada. There are extensive views over the estuary across to Fowey. Polruan is steeped in history and benefits from two village pubs and a passenger ferry that will take you across to Fowey which is known as the centre of sailing. Further afield there are plenty of places to visit and things to do, why not visit the tall ships at Charlestown, take the brewery tour in St Austell or visit the Eden project. There are also numerous National Trust sites in Cornwall such as Lanhydrock in Bodmin.

Upon entering the cosy cottage, you will find yourself in the open plan kitchen/dining area, fitted with double oven and ceramic hob, dishwasher, washing machine and a dining table which can seat up to four guests. From the kitchen, a feature spiral staircase leads down to a king-size bedroom with en-suite shower room, chest of drawers, two bedside cabinets with reading lights and a wardrobe. Meanwhile, on the second floor, you can find the lounge with a feature fireplace and plenty of comfy seating. There is a Smart TV however with the impressive views across the quay to Fowey, you may find that you don’t need it. Conveniently, there is a W/C with hand basin also on the second floor. Through a low, arched doorway from the lounge, you will find the second bedroom which has two 3' single beds, a chest of drawers and bed side lights. The access to this room is via a small low arched doorway ideally better suited to children however some adults may find it small but cosy.

The Coal Wharf  and Polruan Quay is just a stones throw away from the cottage, where there is seating, picnic tables, and a small beach, which is safe for swimming. Parking is available near to the cottage alongside the harbour, though this can get busy, and also from the St Saviours and Quay car parks which are further up the hill with the larger of the two car parks situated at the top of the village, approximately 10 minutes walk away; both have electric hook up charging points - Weekly tickets can be purchased for both car parks. There is a village bus service available from outside the cottage. Feel free to unload outside the property.

  • 2 bedrooms: Ground floor 1 king-size and 2nd floor twin bedroom
  • Sleeps 2+2
  • Please note the head height in twin bedroom is low and care must be taken
  • En-suite shower room on ground floor and separate WC on top floor
  • Double electric oven, ceramic hob, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine
  • Smart TV
  • Village bus available to transport up and down the hill
  • Babes in arms welcome but regret no children under 5 - due to open spiral staircase and bedrooms being 2 floors apart.
  • Please note that there is an open tread staircase up to the first floor
  • Polruan is a quaint little village situated on a very steep hill, so access to some parts of the village can be challenging.
  • Many of the amenities, ferries and cottages in Polruan are accessed via steps/slopes some of which can be steep. Please contact us if you have specific requirements.
  • There are many small winding streets that are not suitable for cars, therefore many properties in Polruan do not have private parking. However, there is a large pay and display carpark at the top of the village.
  • Week day bus service to Polperro and Looe, from directly outside the cottage
  • You are able to park directly outside the cottage for  short time to unload and pick up
  • Parking available in 3 local car parks one of which is located directly across from the cottage along side the harbour, the other two are located at the top and middle of the hill - charges apply
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • 2 dogs allowed. Additional charges may apply

Enjoyed staying at this cottage. Location was good. Next to 2 good pubs, serving enjoyable food, beer & wine. Very much enjoyed ferry journey to Fowey. Polruan is close to many places you would enjoy visiting. Accommodation was comfortable & furnished to a good standard. Please be aware that the Car Park we used for the week was a 8-10 minutes walkRead more to the the top of Polruan at a cost of 35. The journey up at first was tiring but became my daily exercise. We enjoyed our Holiday, staying here Hide

Great location. Lovely little cottage right by the bustling quay and a short, frequent ferry to Fowey. Cottage had everything we needed. Two local vibe pubs within metres with great ale and classic pub food (ferry to fowey provides better dining options!). Owner very helpful prior to visit and cottage had everything we needed. Lovely coastal walks Read more(Gribbin, Lantic, bus to Polperro walk back, Bodinnick, Polkerris - did them all!) and swimming at Lantic or Readymoney (good for kids). Hide

Great location, easy to drop off and pick up, everything's close including a hope over to Fowey vai the ferry, local shop, bakery and pubs all brilliant and friendly. So nice just to leave the front door and 10 steps later sitting on the quay with a small glass... Polruan is such a lovely spot, you can escape the chaos of Fowey to the tranquillity Read moreof Polruan. Hide

Polruan is a beautiful village but very remote to get to due to the minor roads to get there. The accommodation is as it says is right on the quay and very quirky, it was too odd a layout for us 2 and I'd say not really suitable for 4 Adults. I thought the overall equipment was very basic and we were cold as the heating was inadequate through out.

Pretty little village with excellent amenities. The cottage has everything you need and is central to everything, so if you're after peace and quiet, this might not be the place for you. We spent a very enjoyable week here - thank you!
