  • Traditional Lakeland stone cottage with fabulous rural views
  • Light, cleverly decorated interior creates a refreshing space for your stay
  • Stroll into the bustling centre of Keswick or climb Latrigg Fell for panoramic views over the town
Property code: OC-SZ337

The Lakeland stone cottage is perfectly placed to enjoy the best of both worlds. The town centre of Keswick is just 500 metres away, where you’ll find independent shops, cafes, an Art Deco cinema and popular open-air market. Yet, you’ll also be within easy reach of some fabulous walks, in the surrounding fells and along the shores of Derwentwater. Head to nearby Catbells (4.5 miles) for a gentle climb with spectacular views or challenge yourself with a hike up Skiddaw (4.5 miles). A ride on the launches of Derwentwater is a must during your stay. Glide across the lake, hopping off to enjoy a waterfall walk, spot of afternoon tea or to visit the walled garden that inspired Beatrix Potter.

A flight of stone steps leads to the front door of this terraced cottage. Inside, discover a light and bright lounge, thanks to the large bay window framing distant mountain views. Relax on one of the comfortable chairs or sofa in front of the smart TV or curl up with a book from the collection. The stylish kitchen/diner houses a gorgeous glass dining table as well as an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. From here, access the utility room, where you’ll find a washing machine/dryer and sink, as well as handy storage for coats and boots. Beyond the utility room is the modern family bathroom, with a shower over the bath and a WC. Take the stairs to the first floor, where two of the three bedrooms are located. The first is a single with a three-quarter-size bed (which could also be used as a small double) and lovely views out over the garden. The second is a spacious king-size, again with beautiful views and also an en-suite shower room with a WC. Cottage-style steep stairs lead to the final bedroom, located in the eaves. This is a twin bedroom and has wonderful views towards Skiddaw.

Outside, there’s a charming garden to the rear of the cottage, accessed via a few steps. The garden has a patio and enjoys an elevated position, with views of Latrigg and Skiddaw. There’s a bench and table to enjoy some al fresco dining whilst admiring the magnificent surroundings. The garden is not enclosed so dogs should remain on a lead, but there is a dog-friendly park immediately opposite. Roadside parking for a small/medium car is available directly outside the property, and there is more spacious parking a short walk up the road.

  • 3 bedrooms – 1 king-size, 1 twin (with sloping roof) and 1 single (3/4 width bed could be used as a very small double)
  • 2 bathrooms – 1 bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC, 1 en-suite shower room with WC
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and filter coffee machine
  • Washing machine/dryer in utility room
  • Ironing facilities
  • Gas fire in lounge
  • Smart TV with Netflix
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Travel cot in top floor bedroom
  • Patio garden with table and bench accessed by steps - the garden is not enclosed but there is a dog friendly park immediately opposite
  • Roadside parking for a small-medium sized car - more parking a short distance down the road
  • Pubs and shops less than 500 metres

  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards

Lovely place to stay with a very nice walk down the river into town taking about 10 mins. The house had all the facilities we needed, very clean and the garden is beautiful in the springtime with a nice seating area. its worth noting the bathroom is on the ground floor and the steps to the top room are steep.

An excellent base, with a modern kitchen and cosy living space. Easy access to Keswick town either on foot or by car but limited parking in front of the cottage.

This is not a dog friendly accommodation. There is no enclosed garden, also the dog is not allowed up stairs with you. Had this been in the need to know I would not have booked. The steps leading up To both cottage and back garden are steep with no rails . If you have no animals and are fit , this accommodation is great and in good locations

Perfect cottage for a family of 5. Very comfortable and clean in a great location. Easy parking - with plenty of space for a large vehicle. Thank you

This is a lovely house which was very clean and well equipped and is in a great location for getting into town, enjoying Fitz park and easy access out of the town. The only downside was the size of the fridge in the kitchen which having done a Tesco delivery was too small to take the food for our family of 5. It would be nice to have sufficient friRead moredge space given the property caters for 5. The stairs to the top floor are very steep which might be a consideration if you have young kids. Hide

Our 2nd time staying at Meadow Cottage, really lovely home away from home. Location couldn't be better, the cottage has all you need. We would definitely stay again.

Lovely, comfortable cottage, very clean and well equipped. The position is great, just a short walk into town across the park, and the lake is easily walkable too. Plenty of good places to eat, and great walks from the doorstep.

Meadow Cottage was beautiful - a real home from home. All of the rooms were decorated and furnished to a very high standard, and yet it still felt cosy and homely. The courtyard garden, backing onto the fells, was just gorgeous. The location is perfect, approx a 15 minute walk into town across a lovely park. We would highly recommend staying in thiRead mores gem of a cottage. Hide
