This superb holiday destination is located on a smallholding mid-way between the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors and commands breathtaking views – including the most glorious sunrises and sunsets. It’s a perfect base for large groups of families or friends to explore the picturesque surrounding scenery, whether on foot, by bike or by car. The historic market town of Northallerton is just 1.5 miles away, offering a choice of shops and places to eat and drink, as well as bustling, twice-weekly markets. You could spend a day at the races in either Thirsk (8.5 miles) or Ripon (20 miles), while little ones will love the hands-on experience at Big Sheep & Little Cow Farm (9 miles). You might also fancy taking a nostalgic trip on the Wensleydale Railway, which runs from Scruton (6 miles) to Leyburn, the main market town of mid-Wensleydale.

Make your way up the private track towards the unique, black-clad barn – a striking silhouette against the sky. When you’ve parked (there’s space for up to six cars), head into the large entrance space, where there’s ample storage for coats and boots. Walk into the huge, open-plan living space – a stunning room with tiled floors, natural tones and textures, and wall-to-wall windows framing the beautiful view. Comfortable seating is gathered around the wood burner, a natural gathering space, whether you want to snuggle down with a book or stream a favourite movie on the Smart TV. The huge kitchen has an array of Shaker-style cupboards and mod cons, including a dishwasher and coffee machine. Drink your morning cuppa at the breakfast bar as you enjoy gazing at the fields outside. Completing the ground floor is a king-size bedroom, decorated in tranquil colours, and a luxurious shower room and WC. Both these rooms are accessible. A glass staircase with an impressive window leads you up to the first floor where you’ll find the incredible master bedroom boasting an en-suite shower room. Glazed doors lead onto its spacious terrace, which has seating so you can sit back, relax and gaze out at the garden and towards the North York Moors. The two remaining bedrooms are another king-size and a zip-and-link super-king-size (which can be made up as a twin on request at time of booking), both of which are light and bright, featuring stylish decor in pretty, muted colours. They share a fabulous family bathroom with a free-standing bath and separate shower.

Slide back the glazed door in the kitchen and step out onto the rear patio, which leads to the large, enclosed lawned area. There’s furniture for lounging and dining, so you can get together for a celebratory feast and relax afterwards as the sun sets. You can also soak in the hot tub and enjoy the incredible views or watch the stars twinkle in the night sky.
