An exquisite cottage within the East Sussex market town of Rye, this delightful hideaway is perfectly located for the countryside and coast. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom retreat is close to the centre of Rye, which is known for its character-laden, medieval streets, independent shops and welcoming pubs. Step back in time as you amble down picturesque Mermaid Street or look out over the town from the top of St Mary’s Church tower. With a gorgeous, leafy cottage garden and an open fire, the cosy bolthole is just over 3 miles from the beach at Winchelsea, which is popular with walkers and windsurfers, as well as swimmers. The magnificent golden stretches and rolling dunes of Camber Sands are just 4.5 miles away. For wildlife lovers, Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is less than 2.5 miles from the cottage. Also plan a trip to historic Hastings, 12 miles away, during your stay.

Enter the sunny cottage to find a friendly welcome in its inviting lounge/diner. Lay a fire in here during the colder months, then settle back into blue velvet sofas to bask in the glorious heat. Choose a book from the shelf, find a good film on the Smart TV or listen to your favourite songs via the Amazon Echo. Amble through to the adjoining kitchen/diner to put the kettle on for a cup of tea to enjoy with a slice of freshly baked Sussex wassail cake. With its mint-green units and wooden work surfaces, the cottage-style kitchen/diner is also well-equipped to enable you to cater for your party with ease. Make a cup of coffee in the machine to sip at the breakfast table in here or sit down to formal meals back through in the main room. As day turns to night, climb the stairs up to the first floor of the cottage. Here you will find two delightful double bedrooms, one of which has a smaller bed, plus the family shower room.

Soak up the sunshine in either the front or back garden on fine days. The lovely front garden is the perfect place for morning coffee while the enclosed courtyard to the rear is ideal for supper and a glass of wine. You can also stoke up the BBQ outside to sizzle supper in the fresh air. A washing machine and tumble dryer can be found in a handy, external utility cupboard. Parking for this cottage is subject to availability in local car parks where charges apply.

The cottage was well presented in excellent decorative order. The kitchen contained more appliances and tools than we have at home!

A very pretty and comfortable cottage in the center of Rye that is well equipped with WiFi, washer & dryer and a nice shower. The beds are comforatable too. Worth noting the walls are very thin and you can hear the next property very clearly, though this wasn't really a problem most of the time. The kitchen, though well equipped, is quite small, asRead more is the kitchen table. It's a nice part of Rye though, just off the main High Street, so you don't have to walk far to find things. Hide

From the first time we stayed in Tail End Cottage, we just loved this wonderful cottage, and everything inside and around it! So very well kept. Just in the historic centre of Rye, with so much to be seen, everything within walking distance. Every time we are staying in Tail End Cottage, it feels like being home.

We found the cottage to be really clean and well equipped. The owner included extras - bottle of wine, milk , biscuits, which were really appreciated. The location in Rye was central to all amenities, but still private.

A great cosy little cottage with bags of character and although right in the centre of Rye, it is away from all roads and is very quiet. It has comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen and a beautiful little garden. Perfect stay for a holiday.

We really enjoyed Rye and the surrounding area, and we loved Tail End Cottage - it has a great atmosphere, excellent facilities and the garden, and the location just off the HIgh St. (the Mint) was perfect. We hope to make a return visit sometime in the next year. Please note there is no parking at the house so drop off and collection of luggageRead more needs to be planned carefully. The owner (Dill) is very helpful. The main Market car park (10 mins walk) cost 3 a day. Hide
