Situated along a thriving high street, this picturesque getaway is an ideal base for families and friends eager to explore the glorious Warwickshire countryside. The lively market town of Alcester has a long history dating back to Roman times and is home to the Roman Alcester Heritage Centre alongside a wealth of independent pubs, shops and restaurants. The Cotswolds are to the south (11 miles), offering miles of spectacular countryside, or you can head east to Stratford-upon-Avon (7.5 miles), home to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the Shakespeare Properties including Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Hall’s Croft. Other local landmarks and attractions in this spellbinding area include Cadbury World, Ragley Hall, Park and Gardens, Packwood House, Coughton Court and Warwick Castle, all within 17 miles.

Enter the cottage directly from the street and step down into the first sitting room, a large, elegant space with original wooden beams, flagstone flooring, ample seating and a wood burner set in an impressive surround. A step leads from the sitting room up into the ground-floor king bedroom, which has its own en-suite shower room boasting a lovely rainfall shower. Head back into the sitting room to access the hallway into the rest of the property. Navigate a few more steps along the characterful hallway and you’ll come to the second lounge, with a high vaulted ceiling, comfortable seating and a Smart TV. Exploring the ground floor further, you’ll step up into the characterful kitchen/diner, which has a farmhouse-style dining table, plus a range of useful equipment, workspace and storage. Finally, the ground floor features a utility area and a separate WC. Heading up to the first floor, you will find one super-king bedroom and one king-size bedroom, both tastefully decorated, alongside an invigorating family bathroom. Further stairs lead up to the second floor and the final bedroom – a cosy twin room with a low, sloping, beamed ceiling.

Heading outside, the delightful walled garden is enclosed, and features a pretty lawn and a paved area, with plenty of outdoor furniture, and a soothing hot tub for you to luxuriate in. There is off-road parking at this cottage for two cars.

The cottage is beautiful and very cosy with excellent facilities and nice touches of welcome packs. The layout was excellent for us with the downstairs en-suite bedroom and a really social kitchen and snug. It was very quiet and the bedrooms were large and beds comfortable. The position adjoined to the Riyal Oak was great and it was very easy to geRead moret an Uber to Stratford-Upon-Avon. The outside space has pretty lighting and it was spotlessly clean. We had a wonderful stay in a very historic and beautiful cottage. Hide
