This property is a charming lodge, set in a peaceful location in the heart of Keswick in the Lake District National Park at the entrance to Castlerigg Manor. The property, which sleeps up to 10 guests, suits both large families and groups of friends looking to explore this popular town. Keswick offers a great base to explore the Lakes either on foot, by bike, car or by bus. The town is surrounded by mountains (Skiddaw and Blencathra) and is located between Derwentwater (1 miles) and Bassenthwaite (5 miles). Many local fells are accessible, enjoy a stroll down to the lake shores of Derwentwater to catch the launch across the lake and conquer the stunning Catbells, popular with walkers of all ages and abilities. For something more challenging, Skiddaw is a slightly longer, higher walk and, at over 3,000 feet, but on a clear day, you can see far and wide. Castlerigg Stone Circle is just over 1 mile away and dates back to the Neolithic era. Visit Theatre by the Lake, take in a show and visit Crow Park which is opposite – you can get a 360-degree view of the mountains along with stunning view down the lake towards the exceptionally beautiful Borrowdale valley.

From the parking area, pass the private garden to enter through the front door entering into the large open plan living/kitchen/diner, the real heart of the home, the perfect space for families and friends to be putting their next meal on whilst enjoying a glass of wine after a long day of adventures, with a gas fire and large TV making it ideal to spend time in here, snuggled up on the sofa watching movies on the Smart TV or reading a book. To the rear of the property is a peaceful collection of relaxing bedrooms awaits, three doubles a twin and two single bedrooms, the 3 double bedrooms, all with en-suit bathrooms - two with shower, basin and WC, one with shower and basin only. A family bathroom completes this floor.

Outside, soak up the peace and tranquillity in the private garden and the stunning six and a half acres of grounds that look on to the majestic Skiddaw mountain range. The property has private parking for six cars.

A great cottage for a larger family or small group. Lots of comfy sofas and a large dining table for sociable meals! Plenty of on-site parking, which is important with the busy streets and car parks of Keswick. The fact the cottage is all on one level is vey helpful for older guests, and it is conveniently close to the town centre, (but they need Read moreto be aware that the return journey is up a very steep hill!). We also loved listening to the family of tawny owls in the trees next to the cottage! Hide

We were a group of three families and all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Castlerigg Manor Lodge. The kitchen was brilliantly equipped (a real bonus when cooking for a big group). The bedrooms were comfortable and cosy. The location is fantastic - we could easily walk into town (uphill on return), explore the shops, and head out for walks without neRead moreeding to drive everywhere. Having plenty of parking was a big plus. Wed 100% recommend this lodge for larger groups. Hide

We had a very good stay in this property. It was always warm and comfortable during a cold week. The size fitted our party just right. The walk up the hill was a bit awkward for our older person (82) but we managed.

A spotlessly clean, well equipped & comfortable property, quality furnishings but still comfy & homely. Beds all comfortable with good pillows. Perfect spot for keswick & the rest of the lake district. Will definitely recommend & hope to rebook in the near future. A huge thanks to the host. X

Comfortable lounge area and extras provided. This property is in need of modernisation. Ensuites require updating. General decor and furnishings tired. Whilst only short walk from town, property is located at the top of a long hill.
