Rest and recharge in the picture-postcard fishing village of Staithes, on the North Yorkshire Coast. This pet friendly cottage welcomes groups of 4  adults or families of 2 adults with up to 3 children who are looking to embrace a slower pace of life
in this historical Yorkshire Village.
The cottage is tucked away in a tiny Ginnel at the bottom of the High Street.
Step outside your front door to explore the village’s narrow, cobbled streets and  pretty harbour.
Around the corner Dog Loup ginnel is regarded as the narrowest alleyway in the UK.
Staithes also has an eclectic array of independent eateries, gift shops, museum and 2 artisan shops that you can potter around.
The village is also a magnet for Artists, the most famous being Dame Laura Knight a key Member of the Staithes Group of artists. (1894)
There are 2 main galleries and a variety of studios scattered throughout the village.

Head down to the charming beach for some rock pooling and fossil hunting.
The vibrant Victorian seaside town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea is around 9 miles away. Whitby and its famous Gothic 13th century Abbey ruin is 11 miles away.
The Cleveland Way passes through Staithes, making it a fantastic base for Walkers, you can follow it in land to the North Yorkshire Moors or along the cliff top to a variety of beaches including Runswick Bay.

The accommodation, arranged across three floors, is bursting with period charm, with beamed ceilings, original floorboards and a traditional cottage staircase. (unusually all the ceilings have good head height).

The ground floor is an open plan sitting room/kitchen/diner. The new kitchen has everything needed for self catering. The dining area has built-in seating, a great spot to gather for an evening meal. After dinner, you can relax in the cosy lounge area, watch tv or read a book in the glow of the roaring wood burner.

In the corner of the room, you will find a door that leads up the traditional staircase and the master bedroom.
This delightful bedroom has original wooden floorboards, doors, beamed ceiling, ample storage and Harbour View.
One end of the bedroom is a sitting area - this is where parents can relax, enjoy a glass of wine and enjoy the view while the children are using their electronic devices downstairs.
The second part of the staircase takes you to the top floor.
Choose from a welcoming twin bed room with a Harbour View or the uniquely cozy single bedroom entered by a sliding barn door.  Rounding off ,this coastal bolthole, the family bathroom has an electric shower over the bath and houses the hot water tank, wc and wash and basin.

Once outside, the front door, you will hear the sounds of the sea in the courtyard.

Lovely clean and cozy cottage in a good location. Some niggle have been fed back to improve the experience for future guests (better kitchen equipment including baking trays so can cook in the oven, clearer instructions on how to get hot water, information on parking/stopping in town to drop off bags, working television). Would recommend Kindly LigRead moreht for a couple or young family. Living space is very small so wouldnt recommend for a group of adults. Hide

The best thing about this house is the brilliant location - you couldn't be nearer to the sea, with the only thing between the house and the shore being an excellent pub with a lovely atmosphere. I could open my bedroom window on the top floor in the morning and see the waves crashing below the cliffs. Fantastic. The house itself is a bit cramped fRead moreor five adults, but certainly cosy with the fire and the heavy curtain that separates the front door from the living room. The master bedroom is a brilliant size, the top bedrooms dramatically smaller. I would definitely recommend this property if you prioritise location, amenities and cosiness over having top-drawer, luxe comfort. It suited me and for the price we paid I was very happy. Hide

This is a lovely cottage in a small quiet alley just off the harbour and literally a few steps to the Cod and Lobster pub which does lovely food. The cottage is well stocked with everything you would need for a few days or a week or so. The main bedroom is big enough with a comfy bed and although we didnt use the other two bedrooms on the third floRead moreor they looked fine, with great views from one. The bathroom is modern, a good size with a great shower. Parking is an issue in Staithes, so you will need to park on the harbour to offload and move your car immediately back to the top of the village, otherwise you will get a ticket. All in all a fabulous place to stay. Hide

A bit smaller than the photographs implied, however with 4 adults, 1 toddler and a dog, we managed absolutely fine. I had the twin room and the bed was so comfy, I meant to look at the mattress brand so I could get one for home! Location is fabulous, the view from the bedroom window was stunning, sunrise was beautiful. Be prepared to trek up the hRead moreill to the car park if not fortunate enough to bag one of the few on-street parking places for use with the permit. I have an EV and there were four charging stations for use with your own charging cable, but they are located in a restricted parking area for residents and I got a PCN, not sure why if thats where the council put them, but thats a me problem to sort out, just be cautious if you are relying on charging a car. We loved our stay at Kindly Light - Reborn, it was perfect for our needs and the owners very thoughtfully provided some milk and refreshments, with Kit-Kats no less, which was very welcome as we arrived in a monsoon! We loved our stay, thank you :) Hide

Nice cottage let down by poor agents and sparsely stocked cottage. I spent the first night trying to get through to the letting agents only to discover the wrong telephone number was on the emails they had sent me. The agent I finally got hold of via chat was useless and just wasted my time. I was disappointed the cottage didnt have the cafetiere tRead morehat used to be there and had been replaced by a Nespresso machine and no pods for it. This meant the first night of my holiday was spent driving to Redcar to buy a cafetiere in order to have morning coffee. I also found it annoying the property was missing a bread knife and pint glasses. Not deal breakers but just the little things that make it seem more like home. Yard is in desperate need of weeding too and the washing machine kept cutting off before it finished washing. I found it worse than our stay last year despite the extra 200 charged from the previous times we have stayed there. Hide

We had a great time at Kindly Light. The cottage is well equipped with everything we needed. It's been well renovated, is clean, comfortable and surprisingly quiet despite it's central location close to the harbour. The outdoor patio is a nice bonus. More than happy to stay there again.
