Pull on your walking boots or hire a bike and head straight into the New Forest National Park, where ancient woodlands, wild ponies, and scenic trails make every trip an adventure. Families can enjoy gentle routes like the Tall Trees Trail, where towering redwoods create a magical setting, or the Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary Walk (8 miles), where kids will love spotting deer from the viewing platform. A short drive leads to Beaulieu (5.5 miles), home to the fascinating National Motor Museum with its world-famous car collection, while nearby Palace House (6 miles) offers a glimpse into elegant Victorian life. For a taste of the coast, Lymington (6 miles) has a vibrant Saturday street market boasting everything from fine foods to antiques, and should you catch it at the right time, host to its famous Seafood Festival. After a day of exploring, enjoy a relaxed deli-dining experience at The Pig in the Forest, just 0.5 miles away.

Make your way through the pony-proof gate and up the drive to admire the facade of your holiday home. The entry leads you into a welcoming hallway, perfect for storing walking boots and coats, before heading into the snug on the left and striking up the wood burner. Sprawl out on the soft furnishings in front of the TV after days spent exploring the New Forest. The open-plan lounge, with a second wood burner and TV, offers a quiet, cosy space for curling up with a book before entering the kitchen/diner to whip up a group meal. The U-shaped kitchen has all the appliances needed to rustle up culinary creations before sitting down to the flood-lit dining table laid for six. When day turns to night, discover a calming double bedroom on the ground floor, served by the family bathroom. Upstairs, you’ll find a twin room containing a single bed and small double bed, and a double bedroom with a cot, all set beneath the eaves. Finishing this floor is a shower room with a WC.

Follow through the conservatory to discover doors to the enclosed garden, where a patio, established lawn and furniture provide a lovely setting for mealtimes. There is private parking for four cars on the drive.

Fabulous position. A soulless interior. Good equipment but talk people only can use the microwave safely.

Lovely cottage and absolutely excellent location, especially for our four legged friend! Woodside Cottage is within the New Forest so brilliantly located for all those walkies! The children loved having all the ponies on their doorstep and were blown away by the cows walking past the cottage too!

We just had a 5 night stay at Woodland Cottage. The cottage was in the perfect position, we hardly had to get in the car. Walks directly from the door and Brockenhurst down, just a 20 min walk for good shops and pubs. The cottage was so comfy and well equipped that we didnt eat out, the kitchen had everything we needed and was lovely to relax in Read morethe conservatory, and on the bench in the garden. We would definitely return! Hide

The house is in a perfect location. Directly opposite the forest. Spacious and light, but lacking any personal touches and certainly not luxurious. Very few pictures and ornaments. No books. Felt very clinical. Clean and with a good range of equipment. Far too expensive.

We visit the New Forest twice a year and stay in cottages. We picked this one for the first time. My expectations were very much higher than what we found especially considering the price we paid! When we got there opened the front door to be met with a horrible musty smell, not a great start. One of our family decided to sleep in the bedroom with Read moretwo beds, not for long I must add. There was a massive older cobweb growing from a wooden box across to the bed, it actually joined the duvet. That looked clearly like a cleaner had been in sometime previous and no one had slept in there so they didn't need to go in there. That was the end of that bedroom then, as this person doesn't like spiders so wouldn't go in there. They slept in the upstairs double bedroom. Very hot at night up there, took the cover off the duvet to use that at night for a cooler night, and would you believe the disgusting thing..... There was old blood on the actual duvet!! This couldn't have been missed changing bedding. There was lots of big older cobwebs upstairs, dirty bathroom blind, ants were coming out the cracks in the conservatory corner windowsill. For the price paid I could have cried, I never expected this. There was some long life milk sachets in a bag in the fridge, not very impressive again for the price, two reed diffusers in the cottage, but both were empty and totally dried up, no smell left at all on them. The sofa in the snug, was nothing to make that room (snug). It was a hard boxed feel, I would recommend a comfy sofa be put in there. The soap was just a Waitrose essential, yet again a lot of money spent on the holiday, I would have thought something that looked a bit better. There is a new wheelie bin system going on at the New Forest, so the sign needs updating in the house of that to do with the rubbish. We did what was instructed in the house and got told off by the bin men. It would have been nice for more than one toilet roll in each toilet, this is the first cottage I have experienced this. This could be made into a really nice holiday cottage, it has the potential. The kitchen is great, nice and clean and everything you could want and more in there. I must add the downstairs bedroom is the best, it has lots of wardrobe space, that is not available upstairs. A little tip for anyone staying, if you like a lie in, sleep in the downstairs bedroom, there is a cockeral out the back that makes its morning noise very early in the morning as they do. Hide
