For a restorative break deep in the charming New Forest, stay at this three-bedroom semi-detached holiday home. Offering a restful retreat for families or couples, where your four-legged friends are also welcome to join. You’ll be in a superb central village location in pretty Brockenhurst, with ponies wandering past the gate almost daily. There’s a handy bus stop outside (75 metres), plus the village shops, cafes and pub all within 150 metres. Take a stroll (400 metres) to the National Park grazing land leading to the open forest, or venture 1 mile to Beachern Wood car park, to access picturesque open spaces and scenic trails for walkers and cyclists alike. For a dose of history, St Nicholas Church (0.5 miles) boasts stunning Norman architecture. A little further afield, nature lovers can lap up the beauty of Lymington River (3 miles) or drive through the towering trees on the aptly named Rhinefield Ornamental Drive (3.5 miles). For car-free exploration further afield, just head to the local train station (500 metres).

On arrival, you’ll rumble over a cattle grid (with a handy passenger gate) a reminder you’re out in the sticks! Inside, a spacious hallway leads straight into the kitchen/diner, where a large table sets you up for sociable family meals and boasts underfloor heating for added comfort. To the right is a cosy living room with a Smart TV for film nights, a wood burner to keep you all toasty on chilly evenings and French doors that open out to the garden. Rainy days are no problem here – the property is stocked with books, games, toys, puzzles and DVDs to keep younger and older guests entertained. A convenient downstairs shower room completes the ground-floor layout. Head upstairs to find the three inviting bedrooms – one zip-and-link super-king-size (can be made into a twin on request at time of booking) and one king-size, both of which have Smart TVs, and one single. A family bathroom with a WC completes the layout.

In mild weather, you’ll no doubt spend plenty of time in the lovely, enclosed garden, which includes a lawn and a spacious patio. There’s also an inviting dining set for enjoying al fresco mealtimes and sundowners. Parking is available for three cars.

The house was beautifully presented and immaculately clean throughout, both inside and outside. The beds were some of the comfiest Ive slept in with ample additional bedding and towels provided. The owners could not have been more helpful, from details about the village, local restaurants and cafes, maps for walks with the children aswell as a thorRead moreough walk through of the house to show us how everything worked. What a wonderful base to explore the New Forest which is quite literally a stones throw. We would definitely recommend this cottage. Hide

This lovely cottage in the heart of the New Forrest is conveniently situated to access all the attractions and was our home away from home. It is clean and well-furnished and has everything one would need for an enjoyable stay. The beds, in particular, were very comfortable, and we all slept well after a day out exploring. There is a well-kept garRead moreden with outside seating should you wish to unwind after the numerous local walks/cycle routes you can take. There was excellent communication from the cottage owner before and during our stay. They live locally and were available should you require assistance or advice about things to do and places to go. It's round the corner from the local co-op store, bakery, and pharmacy. Some restaurants nearby also - Esme's Tea Rooms serves huge lunch portions and lovely cakes and scones. The railway station is also a short walk away, and there is a cycle rental store next to the station where you can rent cycles for the day (or longer). We had a fantastic time staying here and were delighted to have found this cottage. I highly recommend it, and we will be booking here again during our next visit. Hide
