Groups will love visiting Llangorse Activity Centre (1.5 miles), where outdoorsy folk can enjoy a range of water activities like canoeing and sailing or take a relaxing lakeside walk. For a rambling challenge, head up Pen y Fan (14 miles), the highest peak in southern Britain, with panoramic views that are well worth the climb. Alternatively, experience the iconic Sugar Loaf mountains and its contrasting Usk Valley (12 miles) for an energetic yet memorable day out. Bookworms will be keen to stop by the historic market town of Hay-on-Wye (15 miles), where cosy cafes and secondhand and antiquarian bookshops pepper the labyrinth of streets. When hunger strikes, the nearby pub (2 miles) offers delicious family meals to suit all tastes.

Timeless dark woods, original beams and exposed brick are apparent throughout this home making it instantly welcoming as soon as you step into the hallway. Kick off your walking boots and enter the farmhouse-styled kitchen/diner, which you'll find fully equipped with a twin oven gas hob and all the amenities for even the most professional chefs. At the end of the kitchen, and perched near the window, is the eight-seater dining table, perfect for celebratory meals or for sharing afternoon Welsh cakes and tea. The utility is another handy feature of this cosy home, and it has an additional fridge and freezer for storing all those locally sourced goodies. Find four comfy bedrooms on this ground floor. There's a single bedroom, a bunk bedroom, and two twin bedrooms. These all share the use of the ground floor shower room and are all extremely welcoming. Upstairs is the hub of the home: the living room. A crackling wood burner sits at the centre of the room, toasting toes in every direction, while the Smart TV and pillowy seating offer restful nights in. There is also access to a balcony and the garden from here. Follow the short flight of stairs up to the king-size bedroom to be greeted with a charming bedroom nestled beneath the property's eaves. This room benefits from an en-suite bathroom, which is a joy at the end of busy days.

Outside, the fully enclosed garden has a large lawn with plenty of space for the children to burn off extra energy. A raised pond is a delightful feature, along with the patio, BBQ and a seating area with a table for dining. The balcony beyond the living room is a calming spot from which to sip a cup of coffee and gives access to the garden below. It is here you can enjoy incredible views overlooking the valley and fields. There is private parking for two cars, however, a third parking spot can be arranged upon request.

The Old Coach House is a charming, rustic country property in a fantastic location. The garden and living room are the highlights, and the surrounding Brecon Beacons are a beautiful area to explore. The open fire in the centre of the living room creates a cosy and unique atmosphere, and the kitchen is very well equipped with a wide range of applianRead moreces. There were, unfortunately, several issues during our stay. Most of these should be relatively straightforward to address and, with a little TLC, the property could be a really special holiday home. There were several cleanliness issues. These were mainly in less visible areas (behind doors, under beds, and above eye level), but the level of dust and cobwebs suggested the property had not been deeply cleaned for some time. There was a noticeable musty smell in cupboards, appliances and rooms, and we found black mould on the underside of a bathmat. The property has a number of quirks, which can be expected in an older building, but it would have been helpful to have these outlined clearly in advance: There is no recycling provision at the property. Guests are required to take recycling away with them. There was no dish cloth provided for cleaning dishes or surfaces. The cooker grill cannot be used for extended periods without causing issues. The heating system is older and the pipes make frequent, loud noises, which did affect sleep. Contacting the owner was difficult. Communication had to go through the booking platform, which led to some confusion, and direct contact details were not initially provided. Overall, this is a property with a lot of character and potential in a beautiful setting. With clearer communication and some attention to maintenance and cleaning, it could offer a much stronger guest experience. Hide

Was a lovely cottage with lovely scenery. Really close to the lake which we fished. The fire pit and BBQ were a perfect addition and the supply of logs was great Thank you.
