The setting is perfect in the former fishing town of Whitby that’s best known for its fish and chips, impressive harbour, picturesque beaches and the remains of the Gothic-style Whitby Abbey, and of course the Dracula connection. The Cottage is just a five-minute walk away from the centre of Whitby. It’s close to the train station & bus station (services up and down the coast, out into the moors and regularly to York) just a 4 minute walk. Explore Whitby’s cobbled streets, charming harbour, and famous 199 steps leading up to the dramatic Whitby Abbey. Learn about Captain Cook and enjoy the best fish & chips in Yorkshire. Popular attractions include the Dracula Experience, the Captain Cook Memorial Museum and the Cinder Track cycle trail leading south to Scarborough (20 miles). For a classic day at the seaside one of the best places to go in search of a little seaside fun is one of the many beaches of Whitby. Explore this idyllic stretch of the coast, highlights include Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick Bay, Staithes, Sandsend and Port Mulgrave, all within 10 miles. The walk along the Cleveland Way from Whitby to Robin Hood’s Bay is rather special. Venture inland to the North York Moors (5 miles) for breathtaking landscapes and scenic walks. Travel on a nostalgic steam train from Whitby on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which runs right past the cottage (typically April to October).

All of the Railway Cottages benefit from an upside-down arrangement; step through the front door into a welcoming hallway. To your right, there’s a convenient cloakroom, while straight ahead, the open-plan living room invites you to relax. This sociable space features comfortable seating, a dining table, and a Smart TV (with Sky Essential TV package which includes Netflix, Global Player (for radio) and many other Applications). There is a well-equipped kitchen with fitted appliances. Adding to the charm, from the living room windows there are also views of the harbour and Whitby Abbey. Head downstairs to discover two beautifully styled bedrooms – a spacious double and a cosy twin – alongside a sleek, contemporary family bathroom which has a large walk-in waterfall shower.

The master bedroom opens directly onto the patio where there is plenty of seating and a modest lawn. From there you can soak up the Abbey views and watch the steam train at close quarters. The cottage benefits from its own private parking right outside.

A lovely modern, comfortable property. It is in the perfect location for families with its own parking and outdoor area, but still in super easy walking distance from the main attractions of Whitby. It has a lovely view across the tracks, water and across to the Abby. The property is very bright and comfortable, with a good sized living area, with Read moreevery thing you need, including lots of hangers! A great sized fridge freezer and washing machine and drier (I used this several times so there was very little to do we we returned home...bonus!). A very good sized shower with very good pressure (something I always feel is important!). Some great recommendations in the trip pack included and a selection of games and books to make use of. Holiday Cottages were also great too, very quick to come out when we had a small issue and it was sorted right away with excellent customer service. I would recommend using this company as well as staying in this lovely property. Hide

The location is fabulous, only a short walk into Whitby itself. The parking is a god send. The equipment in the cottage was very good. More than youd get in a lot of places.

Location was great for the harbour in Whitby and we were constantly looking out the windows at the heritage railway. It was well equipped and comfortable enough for the 4 of us....3 adults and one child. Only issue was with the cleanliness of the downstairs bathroom where we found stale urine down the side of the loo that was making the downstairs Read morearea smell. Hide
