This place was a real find! The attention that has gone into making sure that you have everything you need, was fantastic. You will not be disappointed by the barn, the views and being so close to some of the best walks. Every person looks for something different when booking their break. My opinion is that the beds, bedding and shower rooms arRead moree beautiful and this place did not disappoint, in fact it exceeded all expectations. The kitchen area is large spacious and great for cooking in when you get back from a long walk, then drink a glass of wine with the log burner on. The bath is in main bedroom, is lush!!! The beds are comfy and the bedding is crisp. Reluctant to share this with everyone though as this barn will be fully booked in 2026!!!! But Amanda and family have worked hard to make your experience such a lovely one that they deserve everyone to shout from the roof tops!!! We will be back for sure, our new place to run too to recharge. We loved every minute this place Hide

I can't recommend 'Burr Tor Barn' holiday cottage enough, it is a gem. We spent a week with our young-adult children and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We were greeted with a generous basket full of local produce and a warm welcome from owner, Amanda. The barn itself has been thoughtfully restored with great attention to detail. It is extremely cleaRead moren and has everything one could possibly want. We were very comfortable throughout our stay - the beds being particularly luxurious and the showers are wonderful! The cottage is situated in the most beautiful, peaceful countryside with stunning views. The location is perfect. We enjoy hiking and there are many walks on the doorstep or just a short drive away. We particularly enjoyed a walk around Eyam and across Eyam Moor (a circular route map is available from the museum). The Monsal Trail is also beautiful and there are many walks around that area. Castleton is another lovely place to visit and we enjoyed an entertaining tour of Peak Caves. There are wonderful independent coffee shops with delicious cakes to be found with ease in all the little villages surrounding Great Hucklow. Great Hucklow also has a bus stop with buses to many of the surrounding villages and towns, including Bakewell, Buxton, Eyam and Castleton. I would like to say a special thank you to Amanda who went the extra mile to ensure we had a wonderful stay. We can't wait to visit again! Hide

This is a very well equipped, warm and comfortable 'cottage' set in beautiful surroundings. The welcome pack of milk, bread, butter, eggs, biscuits and oatcakes, along with tea and coffee bags got us off to a good start, with supper at the Queen Anne available only a 10 minute walk away [Thurs-Sunday] Burr Tor Barn provides a superb base for jouRead morerneys into both the White and Dark Peak areas, each within a few miles in all directions. We used it as a base for walks in the limestone country and valleys to the south, along the ridge to Eyam in the east, and out from Edale onto Kinder and the Great Ridge to the north. For beer drinkers The Red Lion at Litton and the Three Stags Heads at Wardlow Mires are not to be missed, and the food at the former was excellent. Good home cooking but a cut above the usual 'pub grub'. Gastro pub offerings at Little Hucklow and Bretton [The Blind Bull and the Barrel] are available if your budget allows. Hide
