Its crescent-shaped bay, with a sand and shingle beach full of shells to unturn, is popular for windsurfing and kite surfing. Wander through the village’s narrow cobbled lanes, lined with grand Georgian architecture and quaint fishermen’s cottages, or enjoy the spacious beach at low tide, perhaps strolling all the way to Maryport (5 miles). This pretty town boasts a harbour, an aquarium and museums, while Silloth (7.5 miles) is famed for its peaceful atmosphere and Turner-worthy sunsets. Cockermouth, Bassenthwaite and Keswick are all within 24 miles and are worth visiting.
This cosy end-of-terrace retreat is decorated in neutral tones with tasteful decorative touches throughout. A subtle coastal theme runs through the property. You’ll have an inviting lounge for relaxing with fellow guests, perhaps lighting the warming wood burner and switching on the Smart TV. The stylish kitchen/diner, just next door, has attractive blue units and a wooden table for sharing meals together, while a traditional utility room adds practicality. Head up the cottage-style stairs to reach a king-size bedroom, a double bedroom and a bathroom with a shower over the bath.
Outside, you’ll have an enclosed yard with outdoor furniture so you can enjoy morning coffees in the fresh air. Unloading is easy right outside the cottage. There’s also a bench for sunning yourselves at the front of the property. It’s likely you’ll find a parking spot on the street. Otherwise, there’s free parking in the village car park (150 metres).
