A stay in this unique former home of Charles Rennie Mackintosh the renowned architect will certainly be one to remember. Situated in the famous seaside village of Walberswick this fine Edwardian house is perfect for a holiday or a celebration with family or friends on the unspoiled Suffolk coast.

This spacious property sleeps ten guests across three floors of spacious, light-filled rooms. Stylish and comfortable, the interior comprises five bedrooms and four bathrooms. Walberswick’s long sand and shingle beach backed by grassy dunes is within 200 metres, ideally placed for picnics and walks along the shoreline. The village is famous for crabbing and has friendly traditional pubs serving hearty food, plus a cluster of shops, while a short ferry ride across the River Blyth brings you to the charming town of Southwold.

Charles Rennie Mackintosh lived in this house from 1914 to 1915, and prints of the lovely watercolours he painted while living here decorate the walls. From the bright hall, step into the roomy kitchen/diner. Designed for entertaining, it features a superb bespoke kitchen, a wine fridge and a dining table. Relax in the airy lounge, with sumptuous seating, a wood burner and a 72" Smart TV. Starlink broadband connection. Bi-fold doors open onto a large, outside patio and there’s a small, second kitchen for rustling up outdoor feasts. Upstairs are four delectable bedrooms, with the fifth tucked beneath sloping ceilings on the second floor. Outside, the large, enclosed garden offers a patio with outdoor furniture and an extensive lawn. There is private parking for two cars and an EV charging point.

Southwold (1.5 miles) is known for the brightly coloured beach huts on its golden sands and the landmark lighthouse in the middle of town. Enjoy a stroll down the delightful Edwardian pier and shop for freshly caught fish, plus local produce from a good array of independent shops. Double zip wires and a giant puzzle of pathways to explore are among the attractions for a fun day out at the Maize Maze (6 miles). Idyllic walks at RSPB Minsmere (8.5 miles) offer the chance to see some of the UK’s rarest wildlife, with an impressive variety of birds and a glimpse of otters. Fun for children in the Wild Zone includes building dens, hunting for mini-beasts and a play area.

Millside was perfect for our family get-together. The enclosed back garden was wonderful for the grandchildren and the bifold doors between the living room and the patio made a huge space for them to play. The large dining kitchen was just perfect for family dinners and games night. The property also had the largest tv we had ever seen
