Known for its rugged landscape and unbridled beauty, Dartmoor offers an abundance of rivers, waterfalls and vast moorlands to explore. Similarly beautiful, the traditional seaside towns dotted along the Devon coastline include Dawlish (8.5 miles), Teignmouth (11 miles) and Exmouth (8.5 miles). We stayed here for a week in order to be close to our daughter and son-in-law, who were holidaying with his parents at Harcombe House where the Fire Fighters Charity have holiday cottages. The weather was perfect and the cottages are very well located just north of Kenneford only a few miles from Exeter. We are well familiar with this area having bRead moreeen holidaying in Devon and Cornwall for several years. The cottage was absolutely immaculate and well fiitted-out in a modern style, but does urgently need to have means of washing clothes added in order to make it perfect. A common amenity room with a washing machine and a dryer would suffice. The nearest shop is the Co-op in Chudleigh a short drive away, or one can easily get to the Tesco Superstore in Exeter, using the old Exeter Bypass (for those old enough to remember it !!). The roads can be a bit confusing at first, because the main A38 Devon Expressway runs very close, and the junctions to and from it take some learning ! However, it is a very good road for getting to the various places of interest. Devon country lanes however, can be a challenge, being essentially ditches with tarmac at the bottom ! But fear not ! Take the relevant OS 1:50000 maps with you, and you'll never get lost. The accommodation is an excellent conversion of stables, and the quality of the conversion is really excellent. Hide

Great experience. Met Helen soon after arriving, who was incredibly helpful with all of our questions. Having the ice cream parlour so close meant that we found ourselves there every day which made for tasty bribery. The cottage was ideally located for visiting local beaches. Thoroughly recommend

We had a great week at Chaff House. Helen was friendly, welcoming and helpful. The accommodation is immaculate. Very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Its even more spacious than the photos show and there was plenty of room for us and our two toddlers (one in a travel cot). The farm is a fantastic place for anyone but would particularlyRead more appeal to those with young families. The massive covered play barn is absolutely brilliant (perfect for rainy days) - our three year old was thrilled to bits and especially loved the orange elephant slide and huge sandpit. Our almost two year old loved the summer meadow, especially the donkeys (Basil and Barney) and chickens. And the ice-cream is really excellent too! The farm is easily accessible - very close to Exeter and well placed to explore all Devon has to offer. We wouldnt hesitate in recommending it. Thanks Helen! Hide
