Secluded, yet only a short ferry ride from colourful Fowey, this bright ground-floor apartment is perfect for a small family or couple. Sleeping three guests, it offers a lovely retreat in the quaint village of Polruan. Enjoy a scenic trip across the River Fal to explore Fowey’s narrow streets, lined with independent shops, galleries, and a great range of excellent eateries. You can hire a canoe or kayak to paddle up the River Fowey’s backwaters or tuck into a picnic on the beach at Readymoney Cove, just 0.5 miles from Fowey Harbour. Polruan has a shop and two traditional village pubs where you can quench your thirst after a glorious walk along the South West Coast Path towards Polperro. You’ll find sandy beaches at Polkerris, a water sports favourite, Par and Menabilly, all within 4 miles, while the spectacular Eden Project is a 6-mile drive away.

Your spacious holiday home boasts a charming, white-walled interior and marine shades that echo the sea views across to Fowey. Cosy up on comfortable sofas in the light and airy lounge/diner to watch the Smart TV or make plans for the next day. The pretty dining area has a country-style round table and chairs and overlooks the well-planted courtyard garden. A streamlined, well-kitted galley kitchen makes short work of preparing a meal with local fresh produce. The good-sized and well-lit wet room is perfect for starting the day afresh. There are two inviting bedrooms, a double and a single. Both are prettily decorated in pale tones with wooden bed frames, and picturesque sea views from the windows to enjoy.

Outside, a large patio door from the dining area opens onto the enclosed stone courtyard garden, with outdoor seating. Planted with shrubs and flowers, this is a peaceful spot for drinks and al fresco dining. Whilst the apartment itself is lovely, and the owner very kindly let us in early, the noise from the upstairs apartment is unbearable, it is like someone is upstairs in a regular house. There doesnt appear to be any soundproofing whatsoever. There were two different families staying up there in the time we were there so it wasnt the individuals atRead more fault. You can hear every sound, footsteps, chairs scraping, doors closing etc. The shared entryway also causes continuous noise with the occupants, of which there were many, coming and going. The apartment door is just an internal door with a lock so it constantly sounds like someone is coming in and if you dont keep it locked it blows open when the shared front door is opened. You can hear people coming in and thudding up and down the stairway, which again is like the stairs in your home rather than a separate property. It does feel more like you are renting a couple of rooms in a shared house rather than a separate accommodation. The upstairs terrace and decked area overlooks the garden space of the lower apartment, with stairs from it actually coming down into the garden making us feel uncomfortable about using it as you are completely on view. Parking on the quayside near to the property was always full leaving us parked on the outskirts of the village at the top of a very steep hill, I have angina and found it a real struggle to climb and my mothers mobility scooter couldnt cope with the steepness. Personally I feel the property would only suit an able bodied person who doesnt mind feeling like they are staying in a room of a shared house. But if you like your privacy and solitude this isnt the place for you. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk - Thank you for your feedback. As noted in the Need To Know section, Polruan is located on a steep hill and may not be suitable for guests with restricted mobility. Hide

A good place to stay. A comfortable, well presented cottage with lovely views and just minutes from the harbour. Everything in the cottage was clean and well looked after . There was plenty of indoor space (wet room was a treat) and we appreciated the outside space and seating.

I had a really lovely stay last week, the flat is very comfortable indeed. The view across to Fowey is super, and although you view it across the boatyard roof this was in no way distracting. There are nesting Gulls on the boatyard roof opposite but they didn't cause me any disturbance and neither did the occasional sounds from the working boatyardRead more. The little garden was a nice bonus, a lovely spot to have an evening meal...just watch out for the gulls! Kitchen was really well equipped for cooking at home. Shower room works really well, lots of hot water and fluffy towels. The bed and pillows in the double room are perfect, especially for someone with a slightly bad back, just the right amount of firmness. There's a hairdryer too so no need to pack that! The flat is in a great spot for coastal walks too, from Polruan and Fowey. So many places to eat in Fowey. I loved the peacefulness and slow pace of Polruan. I would definitely stay in the flat again. Hide
