Refined details and natural light elevate this charming Welsh cottage, offering an enviable base for four guests to enjoy outdoor activities by day and relax in sophisticated comfort by evening. Nestled in the grounds of a 17th-century estate, the property is located within the Tanat Valley, a serene stretch of Welsh countryside framed by towering mountains, with the River Tanat running through it. Take in the crisp, fresh air of the area with an endless array of hikes and bike rides, exploring the stunning scenery around Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant (4.5 miles) and Llanfyllin (5 miles). A hidden gem of Wales' outdoor offerings, Lake Vyrnwy is just 13 miles away. This beautiful lake offers a wealth of activities, including a Sculpture Park, a 24,000-acre RSPB Reserve, as well as opportunities for fly fishing and clay shooting. Also nearby, discover the Llanymynech Rocks Nature Reserve (7 miles), a spectacular rock formation straddling the England-Wales border, and Pistyll Rhaeadr (8 miles), an enchanting waterfall in the Berwyn Mountains.

Once a Blacksmiths workshop for Llangedwyn Estate, this listed, single-storey property has been sympathetically renovated blending natural features with contemporary touches, whilst retaining original features like its wooden beams. Step into the open-plan living space, where a vaulted ceiling, skylights, and an abundance of natural light create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The main feature of the room is the impressive original blacksmith’s fireplace, now reworked to house a fully functioning wood burner. Let the wood burner keep you cosy while you chat, dine, and unwind in this inviting space, serving up delicious meals from the spacious, modern kitchen. A few steps lead to the first of two bedrooms, an inviting double. The second bedroom, located on the opposite side of the property, features a four-poster double bed, a Smart TV, and French doors leading out onto the patio, which offers exceptional views. Just next door, discover a stylish family bathroom with a rainfall shower over the bath.

Outside, the patio offers a peaceful retreat with a table and chairs and views of Llangedwyn Hall’s walled garden. As the property is pet-friendly, you’ll be pleased to find the patio area enclosed. You’ll also have access to an enclosed field when it’s not inhabited by livestock, providing an additional space for your pup to play. Guests can also benefit from ample private parking on the driveway.

We were really delighted with the Smithy, loved the feel of it, very welcoming, warm and comfortable, we had a lovely time there, it was one of our favourite holiday properties. All the fixtures and fittings were top end quality, plus it had a safe enclosed space for the dogs too!
