  • Beautifully restored by the Croft family, with spacious accommodation suitable for four guests
  • Surrounded by countryside and ideally situated for visiting Ludlow and Leominster
Property code: OC-N30432

This idyllic stone lodge is set back from the entrance drive of Croft Castle. Offering guests unrestricted access to the historic parkland estate, Croft Ambrey Hillfort, and the walled kitchen garden - during house opening times. A great location within the countryside of the Herefordshire, Shropshire and Welsh borders, the property is well placed for exploring many national and local walking and cycling routes that criss-cross the landscape. Just 5 Miles from the lodge are Bircher Common, Berrington Hall and Mortimer Forest. The picturesque Black and White village trail is easily accessible, which visits nearby Pembridge, Eardisland, and Weobley. Within a 23-mile radius you can visit the market towns of Leominster, Ludlow, and Hay-on-Wye with their antiques, food, and literary festivals. Outdoor enthusiasts can embrace the local mountain bike trails, River Wye kayaking, and the Welsh mountains. Or just take advantage of the seasonal events for young and old at Croft Castle, on your doorstep.

The Lodge still belongs to the Croft family and has been recently completely renovated to a high standard. Surrounded by private, enclosed gardens, guests are encouraged to use the rear entrance of the lodge where you will find space for muddy boots and coats. From here, you can access the well-equipped kitchen that offers everything you may need to prepare meals during your stay. A cosy sitting room overlooks the garden and Croft Castle estate, through traditional Coalbrookdale windows, with a wood-burning stove, comfortable seating, and a Smart TV with Freeview, great for a relaxing evening spent with friends. For dining, there is a dining table for four in the semi-open plan kitchen, perfect for socialising whilst preparing an evening meal. The lodge offers guests the choice of two beautifully finished bedrooms, both enjoying pleasant views. There is a bedroom with a king-size bed and a bedroom with a super-king-size bed that can be made up as 3’ twin beds if required. Completing the property is a bathroom with shower over bath and WC.

The lodge is surrounded by mature gardens, fenced and enclosed with mature hedgerows. A supply of logs is stored under a rustic mock porch, and a table and chairs for summer dining on the terrace. Guests are free to access the parkland estate and Fishpool Valley, just 300 yards from the garden gate. There is room to park bikes and ample private parking space.

Really lovely cottage, one of the best we have stayed at. It's in an excellent location which is very quiet and peaceful, yet easy to get to. You can walk straight out of the door into the grounds of Croft Castle. The owners have thought of absolutely everything you might need during your stay. There are lots of thoughtful touches from the everythiRead moreng-you-could-possibly-need-kitchen, to a place to store your wellies, clean your dog (if you have one), to books, games, a radio, and even a sewing kit in the cupboard. Nash Lodge is beautifully decorated with upcycled furniture and is spotlessly clean. There was a great welcome pack, spacious off road parking, and a small garden and patio outside to enjoy the good weather. Would highly recommend this 12/10 cottage. Hide

We have stayed in a number of dog friendly cottages in the last 4 years and this is by far one of the best for many reasons. A wonderful base for so many walks directly from the cottage, we didnt have to get in the car once. The cottage itself is so cosy, super clean and provides absolutely everything you need. A short walk up the castle drive to tRead morehe tea room for coffee and cake or into the local village to the community shop, cafe and pub, where everyone is very friendly. We will definitely be booking again. Thank you Hide
