This beautiful cottage is set on a working farm that dates back to the middle of the 17th century. Sitting on the edge of the Peak District, with scenic lush fields, rolling hills and beautiful places to explore from your door. A path running through the farm will take you directly out for walks through stunning scenery, and there’s local cycle hire if you want to try the Manifold Cycle Track and other cycling routes. There is a great restaurant and pub, just a little over two miles away, sitting on the banks of the River Hamps. Leek (4M), a pretty market town has a great variety of shops and places to eat. Buxton (14m), with stunning architecture, microbreweries, Go Ape and Poole’s Cavern has lots to explore. History can be found 15 miles away, at Little Moreton Hall, a 15th century mansion, complete with moat. For thrill seekers, Alton Towers is just 9 miles away and Peak Wildlife Park is just 10 minutes down the road.

Pull up outside this beautiful stone cottage and take a moment to admire the gorgeous views. Once inside, you’ll feel the tranquillity of the décor, with pale walls, wooden or stone-flag floors with the added luxury of underfloor heating, exposed stonework and rugged timber beams. The long, slim kitchen has been carefully designed to make cooking holiday meals easy and enjoyable and includes a ceramic sink and retro-style fridge/freezer, as well as a microwave and dishwasher. One step down lead into the open-plan dining area, with its antique table and chairs, and the lounge, where squashy leather sofas surround a TV and wood burner – this is an irresistible space in which to curl up with a good book or watch a movie together. Completing this floor is a handy downstairs WC. Take the stairs to the first floor and the two charming bedrooms and bathroom, tucked into the eaves and with some areas of low, sloping ceiling.

To the rear of the cottage you’ll find the patio, with a hot tub for four and an area with dining furniture and a BBQ. From here you can sip a coffee or a sundowner as you relish the gorgeous rural views. This area leads to a sloping lawn which is surrounded by trees. You are also welcome to wander through the owner’s woodland grounds, in which you’ll come across a fenced river and ponds. The property has the benefit of parking for two cars.

Excellent cottage. Beautiful countryside. The owners are wonderfully warm and welcoming, leaving some lovely welcome treats. Loved seeing the farm sheep, dogs, horses, chickens. Great place to bring your dogs, very peaceful, yet not too far from some great local areas, Leek, Buxton, Bakewell. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

Fantastic location for walking to see Thor's Cave or Rudyard Railway. A very clean property, well equipped kitchen and a good spacious living area with a woodburner. The garden is fully enclosed with a large hot tub. The use of robes and slippers was an added bonus. Pet friendly and great hosts.

I wonderful cottage in a superb location. The owners are a lovely couple and even after my dog chased their goose they didnt order us off site. A surprise treat for the dog such as a toy and treats and a bottle of Prosecco for the adults awaited us on arrival and a pint of milk in the fridge, we felt spoiled from day one.

We had a lovely week at Rue Hayes Farm cottage with our 4 year old & 2 dogs. The location is quiet with beautiful scenery right outside the door. Really nice welcome pack on arrival & dog treats, toys, poo bags and blankets and bowls for our furry family members. Owners were helpful suggesting nice places to visit with our daughter and dogs in tRead moreow. A highlight for our 4 year old was being able to meet an orphaned lamb, the horses and the friendly sheep dogs. Kitchen was well equipped, with good range of appliances and a gas BBQ outside. Hot tub checked by the owners daily and much appreciated after a day out walking. Although we stayed in summer so didnt use it there is a lovely wood burner that would be cosy in cooler months. Would highly recommend a stay at Rue Hayes Farm Cottage. We will definitely hope to return again. Hide
