This idyllic cottage is tucked away in the heart of Alnmouth, on the Northumberland coast. The property welcomes seven guests and has a choice of social spaces for spending quality time with family and friends. The cottage boasts a fantastic, central location, with the village’s fine collection of pubs, restaurants, cafes, and gift shops within 200 metres of your front door. You’ll also be just 300 metres from the village’s vast, sandy beach, which hugs the shores of the Aln Estuary. Spend time here, sharing family picnics, building sandcastles, and playing in the dunes. The Northumberland Coastal Path passes through the village, offering fantastic walking opportunities, and you’ll also be 16 miles from the walkers’ paradise of Northumberland National Park. Day trips from the cottage include Alnwick Castle and Gardens (5 miles), the Farne Islands (via a boat from Seahouses, 16 miles), and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne (30 miles). You’ll also be just 6 miles from the popular harbour town of Amble, with its outdoor markets and excellent seafood restaurants.

Four shallow steps lead from the main street to the cottage’s enclosed patio and front door. Once inside, discover a bright and inviting holiday retreat, which seamlessly blends contemporary decor with charming rustic features. The main lounge boasts a fabulous double-height ceiling and has an array of comfortable seating arranged around a cosy wood burner. Relax here, after a day at the beach, planning your next adventure as you catch up on your favourite programmes on the Smart TV. From here, a small step leads to the kitchen/diner, with its sleek units, beamed ceiling, large dining table, and everything needed to whip up delicious feasts for the group. There are also a couple of cute window seats and a comfortable armchair – the perfect spots to unwind with a glass of wine as you wait for the dinner to cook. Just off the kitchen/diner is the second lounge overlooking the garden. With a TV, DVD, and Wii console, it’s an ideal place for the kids to hang out. Completing the ground floor is an attractive double bedroom and a handy shower room. Upstairs, three beautifully styled bedrooms are nestled in the eaves. The first bedroom is a spacious super-king-size, which also has a small desk area, should you need to catch up on emails whilst away. The final two bedrooms are an inviting twin and a cosy single. A family bathroom rounds off this beautiful coastal bolthole. Please note, that the first floor has sloping ceilings/low beams, and you may experience restricted head height in some areas.

Outside, enjoy an al fresco supper on a summer’s evening in the charming enclosed patio (reached via a small flight of shallow steps), where you’ll find outdoor furniture and a BBQ. There is a private parking bay for one car, with additional free on-street parking nearby, subject to availability.

The cottage was cold in the evenings as the heating including the main bathroom radiators were not working . The thermostat if that was indeed the purpose of the control in the kitchen was not working and appeared to indicate that the battery had failed and therefore the heating would not come on. The only heater working was in the small shower roRead moreom so drying towels was difficult. The oven and some of the cooking equipment was not clean and the pans were in a shocking state of repair with all the non stick coating disappeared and the handles on one pan broken. There was a blue light flashing at night which appeared to be something to do with a burglar alarm but clearly there was a fault with it. Hide

A lovely cottage in Alnmouth. Well equipped. Right next door to a delicious deli. Very spacious, so much so that we couldn't find the fourth bedroom to start with!! Lovely woodburner was very helpful as it was a bit chilly out but the house was very warm and comfortable.
