Its adaptable spaces, comprising a main house and two outbuildings, mean that it works for all kinds of guests, from friends to families, and for all age groups. It’s set in an elevated position just 1 mile from the coast – via a gate in the garden and a footpath. Nearby you can try out some water sports, go coasteering, or enjoy all kinds of other outdoor activities, from horse riding and cycling to rock pooling and wildlife watching. The 17th century Lulworth Castle, 3 miles away, has extensive parkland, woodland walks, a children’s playground and spacious grounds, while the National Trust’s Clouds Hill, Lawrence of Arabia’s rustic cottage, is 8.5 miles. For little ones, Monkey World and the Tank Museum are both within 6.5 miles.

Reach the property via a long, private drive, with livestock in the surrounding fields, and enter through the back door into a hallway where you can leave coats and boots. On your left is a study, with fabulous views through its curved windows – a perfect spot for catching up with emails or sipping a morning coffee. The main living space is open plan, with another circular space at one end, bathed in natural light and with an egg chair positioned in just the right spot for nestling up and enjoying the view. With exposed beams and a large brick fireplace, the lounge area has lovely character, and offers plenty of room for gathering together, with a large sofa and Smart TV. From the dining area, French doors lead to a sheltered patio on the side of the house. The kitchen is yet another beautifully designed space, centred around a large island/breakfast bar, and featuring a retro-style fridge/freezer. Completing the ground floor of the main house are two bedrooms, a double and one with bunk beds, and a family bathroom. Head upstairs to find, tucked under the eaves, a spacious and tranquil king-size bedroom with far-reaching views, plus an adjacent shower room, both with some areas of low, sloping ceiling. Additional accommodation can be found in two annexes, both reached by external steps. The ‘Posh Shed’ features contemporary decor and a sofa bed (for one adult on request), with a WC next door, while above the garage is a large family room (with a double and single bed) with an en-suite shower.

When you feel like indulging in an al fresco meal or serving up a sundowner, there are two patios with outdoor furniture where you can relax, one very sheltered and the other more open and with wonderful views. You can also use the field that slopes away from the house, that boasts swings and a bench seat – the perfect spot in which to relax and take in the incredible views. This property has ample off-road parking.

This is a lovely house in a great location with lots of outdoor space and peace and quiet. There were 9 of us in our party (6 adults and 3 small children) and the indoor spaces were flexible and allowed grown ups to have a degree of seperation from the kids while still keeping an eye on them. We were there in the middle of winter and in an exceptiRead moreonally cold spell with temperatures around or below freezing most of the time and this meant we struggled to get the house warm, even with the log fire which was disappointing but as I say, the weather was surprisingly cold for the south coast and I think the central heating would cope well with most winter weather. We all had a lovely winter holiday at Brownhills, it was a nice touch to have some Christmas decorations and a tree as we were there for New Year, the kids especially didnt want to go home, Lulworth has got good amenities and it was great to be able to walk down to the beach and along the coast path and stroll to the Castle Inn which has a really good menu and friendly staff, we would happily and highly recommend it. The cottage is ideal for three families because of the annex and separate bedroom/shower in the roof. The rooms are large, so there's lots of space, and plenty of character. Great views, 10 minute walk to the Cove, 5 mins to the local shop which is very well stocked and bigger than you think with a good range of food and also sells papers, buckets Read more& spades etc. There are no footpaths in West Lulworth village so, as the roads are quite busy, it's safer to drive to the Castle pub (it has its own car park across the road). In the house there is no separate WC. It is well-equipped, EXCEPT there is no ice-cube tray in the freezer and, more importantly, no washing machine and no washing line if you want to wash by hand or hang up your beach towels and swimming gear. There is no brush or mop. A couple of parasols for the outside tables would have been useful and a few sun loungers would have been good. The garden and car park area were very overgrown. The steps to the annex are narrow and overgrown and the top step into the annex is wobbly. There are no instructions about where to leave the rubbish bins and what to do with the bed linen at the end of the stay. Hide

Spacious cottage but felt like a work in progress. Little thought for paying guests to enjoy all that was offered as was needing attention. I would now say overpriced for the niggly overlooked issues our party encountered. Others may find everything acceptable. However, the village facilities and proximity to Lulworth cove was good. Peaceful and rRead moreelaxing area. Hide

The cottage was beautiful, both outside and in. Located atop a hill, the views were stunning, and the house seen from West Road looks really inviting and pretty. Furniture was comfortable and well-maintained; beds were dressed nicely and mattresses were comfortable. There was plenty of room for our large group, even in the kitchen where everyone waRead mores able to get involved with cooking together along the breakfast bar. Overall, a really delightful stay! We loved our stay at this cottage. We had a little trouble getting in but that was quickly resolved. It was really comfortable and clean. Great garden and games indoors for the kids. Wonderful location as you can walk to Lulworth Cove
