Escape to the coast of Cornwall with a group of family or friends and stay at this commanding, sea-view home in Tintagel with a hot tub to unwind in, where cosy living spaces and plenty of coastal charm await. A 0.5-mile walk from the heart of the village lies Tintagel Castle, steeped in the mythology of King Arthur, where visitors can cross the breathtaking footbridge which connects the mainland to the headland. Below the castle, Merlin’s Cave is said to have been the wizard's dwelling. The village itself boasts shops, pubs and cafes. For beach lovers, Trebarwith Strand (1.5 miles) and Bossiney Cove (2 miles) offer sandy shores and excellent waves for surfers. A 4-mile journey along the coastal path leads to Boscastle, a picturesque fishing village home to the unique Museum of Witchcraft and Magic. Further afield, the historic village of Port Isaac (9 miles) awaits, famed for its appearances in TV dramas and films such as Doc Martin and Fisherman’s Friends.

Step into this charming coastal retreat, designed for comfort and relaxation. Upon arrival, the entrance porch provides the perfect spot to store coats and kick off muddy walking boots. The heart of the home is the spacious, farmhouse-style kitchen/diner, a dream for hosting large groups. With its weathered flagstone flooring and a cosy open fire, the kitchen exudes character while offering everything you need to cook up a Cornish feast for your loved ones. From the kitchen, head into the interconnected sitting rooms, separated by a curtain for flexible living. One room invites you to relax by the wood burner, while the other offers a Smart TV to catch up on your favourite shows. The conservatory is a real highlight, overlooking the enclosed garden and offering stunning sea views – the ideal spot to sip your morning coffee while watching the children playing outside. For competitive evenings together, a well-appointed games room includes a table tennis table. The ground floor features a king-size bedroom with zip-and-link beds that can be converted into twins on request, alongside an en-suite shower room – an ideal setup for guests with mobility needs. Upstairs, you’ll find three generously sized, light and airy bedrooms. The master bedroom boasts a double bed with an en-suite bathroom, while another double room and a sumptuous twin bedroom share the family shower room. The twin bedroom can be converted into a super-king on request to suit your needs.

Outside, the extensive lawn is perfect for games, while the patio’s outdoor furniture and BBQ set the scene for al fresco dining with breathtaking ocean vistas. A charming picket fence at the front and dog-proof hedges combine to ensure your canine friends can roam freely. Ample private parking for up to four cars is also available.

We had a fantastic week at Merlin's Cottage. We did unfortunately have a couple of issues with the power to fridge and oven. We were told on arrival there was a problem with the hot tub and this wasn't fixed during our weeks stay. We have been promised a small refund for this but doesn't take away from the fact we booked it for the hot tub, andRead more we've not received the refund two weeks on. As others have said there isn't anywhere near enough garden furniture, and what is there is broken and unsafe. The garden also had a lot of previous guests dog poo in it. Saying that the house was very cosy, comfortable and warm. Absolutely stunning views and location, extremely well equipped. We had a really lovely family holiday there. Hide

This place is absolutely gorgeous with gorgeous sea views and a lovely garden. - The wonderful costal path walks are right on the doorstep and Tintagel itself is magical. However, issues we had were there was no welcome/instruction pack and sadly no garden furniture - The garden and its views are out of this world but would be much better seated rRead moreather than standing! sadly the price we paid for this (luxury price) did not come through on some of the aspects of the stay - we saw a cottage even closer to the sea (which was a holiday home) with identical features for 1000 less than what we paid so slightly sour grapes. The games room was fantastic - although the darts were all broken as were the pool cues (a shame really) Overall with those things aside we had a fantastic time as a family and just a few adjustments (as mentioned above) would have made it worth the money we paid. Response from Holiday Cottages - We are sorry to hear that the outdoor furniture was not in place upon your arrival. We are glad the owner was able to replace this during your stay Hide

The house was generally clean and comfortable. It is in a wonderful situation and very peaceful. There were however several matters in need of attention. Our main complaint was the lack of privacy in the upstairs en suite. Hopefully this has been remedied by now with the installation of a blind, something that was not achievable during our stay. Read more The contact phone number for the housekeeper was out of date and notably none for the owner. Although the kitchen was well provided for with crockery and utensils we could not find two large saucepans and those provided were in poor condition. Insufficient for a property that sleeps 8. There were only three garden chairs provided and we found no sign of a table tennis net. None of the conservatory lamps were working and the back door was tricky to lock. The upstairs bedroom doors did not shut properly. We did not feel the boundaries were sufficiently dog proof to let our dogs off with sheep and lambs in the next field. Having said all this we did enjoy our stay at the cottage and thanks for the cake! Hide
