A boat trip to Coquet Island, 1 mile offshore, is a must for birdwatchers, as the island is home to puffins and terns, as well as seals. Visit the medieval Warkworth Castle (2 miles), a striking fortress overlooking the River Coquet, whilst the village itself offers charming riverside walks, cosy pubs and friendly shops. At Alnwick Castle and Gardens (9 miles), known for its role in the Harry Potter films, you can explore the grand interiors, landscaped gardens, and even try broomstick flying lessons. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy Druridge Bay Country Park, 6 miles from Amble, boasting a sandy beach, walking trails, and a freshwater lake.
