With Devonshire’s golden coastline and rolling countryside on the doorstep, this is the perfect base for outdoor adventures. Start exploring by strolling down the steep lane to unspoilt Lee Bay (500 metres) with its small, sandy beach, excellent for swimming, rock pooling and kayaking. Alternatively, there’s a hidden path under the cliffs that brings you – at low tide – to enchanting Sandy Cove. This area is renowned for its fuchsia-lined lanes and there are many walking trails signposted from Lee Village for you to uncover. Both Woolacombe and Ilfracombe are within 3.5 miles, offering shops, places to eat and drink, and more golden beaches.

One part of this house was built in the 18th century, and this stunning property is set over three storeys and boasts a delightful combination of original features and modern, living. It’s beautifully decorated throughout with high-quality furnishings. Head inside after days out exploring the coast and taking in the vista from the patio area.  After your adventure kick off the sandy shoes in the spacious utility room. The kitchen/diner is filled with light thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows – you’ll want to use the telescope here to take advantage of the magnificent views. This entertaining space with a range cooker, wine fridge and American-style fridge/freezer, and a large dining table with room for everyone to plan the next day’s adventure over dinner. Step through to the lounge and find an array of comfy seating, together with a Smart TV and a wood burner for cosy evenings together. At the end of each day away, choose from six comfortable bedrooms spread across all three floors. On the ground floor, choose from a welcoming twin room with an en-suite bathroom, and a king-size bedroom which is served by the ground-floor family shower room. Up on the first floor, find two super-king-size bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms, and an inviting twin room. On the second and final floor awaits a scenic king-size bedroom, sitting under the sloping eaves of the house and boasting a large bathroom room.

Step outside and marvel at the incredible views of the ocean and verdant cliffs. Here, a spacious and split-level garden surrounds the property, boasting lawned areas with low stone walls and illuminated steps. We had a wonderful stay at Drummetts. The location is stunning, with fantastic views over the bay from the kitchen diner. On warmer days it is lovely to slide open the bifolds or sit at the outside table. The house was well equipped and comfortable and having most of the rooms en-suite went down well with the family. The beaches at Woolacambe and Saunton are enormous and almost deserted. Just be prepared for steep climbs up the local lanes! Hide
