Nestled in the charming village of Chale, Sunset Cottage offers easy access to some of the Isle of Wight’s most scenic views. Start with a drive along the iconic Military Road (4.9 miles), a stunning route that winds along the southwest coast, offering breathtaking vistas over the English Channel and considered one of the island’s most picturesque drives. Families can explore Chale’s rugged coastline and visit Blackgang Chine (2.3 miles), a unique adventure park known for its quirky attractions and rich history. For hiking enthusiasts, the area features beautiful trails on St. Catherine’s Down, where you can find St. Catherine’s Oratory (2.3 miles) —an old medieval lighthouse fondly called the “Pepperpot.”

As you step into this charming cottage, you’re welcomed by a well-equipped kitchen. To the left, an open-plan living and dining area awaits. The living space features two comfortable sofas and two armchairs, which can be arranged around a wood-burner effect electric stove, ideal for relaxation after a day of exploring. The dining table sits nearby, perfect for shared meals. The French door opens directly onto the rear garden, bathing the room in natural light and offering inviting pool views. Downstairs, there is also a thoughtfully appointed twin bedroom complete with an en-suite shower room, providing convenience and accessibility for guests on the main level. Take the staircase to the first floor from the living room, where you’ll find two beautifully designed bedrooms. The main bedroom, featuring a double bed, has a large window that perfectly frames the picturesque sunsets over Tennyson Downs. A second double bedroom offers additional accommodation for family or friends, and a well-appointed family bathroom serves both upstairs rooms.

Step outside the outdoor spaces here, which are just as enchanting as the interiors. The front and rear gardens are spacious and green, offering ample room for children to run and play. The rear garden leads to a swimming pool for refreshing dips, and nearby, a converted barn has been transformed into a games room, complete with table tennis and a miniature billiards table, making it a hub of family fun. Children and adults alike will delight in watching the free-range chickens roam the adjacent gardens. For those wanting to explore beyond, paths lead directly from the cottage, and the property sits right on the scenic Round-the-Island Cycle Route, complete with secure storage for bikes.

The cottage is beautiful in a beautiful location. No noise only birds tweeting. A very relaxing place to stay if you're wanting to get away from it all.

Sunset Cottage was really comfortable, had everything we needed, and was wonderfully quiet and peaceful. Its location not far from the sea and various tourist attractions made it an ideal base. The pool and surrounding garden was beautiful although we only swam in the pool once as it was too cold for us.
