Nestled in the grounds of the owner’s smallholding in Llanddarog, just 7 miles from Carmarthen, you’ll be surrounded by mountains and verdant landscapes in this lush region of South Wales. This delightful, detached barn makes the perfect country bolthole for a family or group of friends. Just 0.5 miles away, you’ll find a warm welcome awaits in traditional Welsh pubs complete with roaring fires, real ale and locally sourced produce on the menu. The nearby town of Carmarthen is recognised as the oldest town in Wales, renowned as the birthplace of Merlin. History enthusiasts will be enthralled by the Carmarthen Roman Amphitheatre (8.5 miles). Spend a day wandering the beautiful gardens at Newton House (13.5 miles) or prepare a picnic and explore the National Botanic Garden of Wales (2.5 miles). Brechfa Forest (14 miles) offers a wealth of walking and hiking routes to suit all fitness levels.

Enter the barn, where a soothing palette of textures combined with thoughtful attention makes for an inviting ambience throughout. A warming blend of exposed brickwork, oak beams and stone make the interiors feel cosy, and there is underfloor heating to warm weary feet after days of adventure. Accessed from the hallway, the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is the social heart of the home. Unwind in the lounge as you sink into the soft seating with the Smart TV streaming your favourite shows. Fire up the roaring wood burner on chilly days, and when stomachs begin to rumble, walk over to the well-appointed kitchen space to find everything needed to cook up a Welsh feast for your loved ones. Enjoy the chef’s work at the dining table in this space or dine alfresco on the patio when the weather permits. At the end of each busy day away, three sumptuous bedrooms await, the first of which is on the ground floor – a cosy twin room served by a separate WC. Upstairs, choose from two delightful king-size bedrooms, one of which boasts a TV and en-suite shower room, the other offering access to a private balcony. A well-equipped family bathroom completes the interior.

Outside offers the best spot to take in the far-reaching rural views that surround you. Here, gather on the patio to soak in the bubbling hot tub, before meeting at the table and chairs for an evening tipple. Kids will love playing on the section of lawned grass. There is private parking for four cars.
