Disappointing stay property not as described and poorly maintained We stayed at 21 The Woodlands, Seaton in July 2025 and, unfortunately, our experience fell far below expectations. Upon arrival, we discovered the boiler was not working, leaving us without hot water until the following afternoon. This is a basic amenity and should have been Read morechecked before our arrival. The overall cleanliness of the property was unacceptabledirty windows and garden furniture, a used mop bucket full of dirty water, toenail clippings on the bathroom floor, and dirty dishes, placemats, and oven all pointed to a lack of proper cleaning despite claims of enhanced cleaning measures. We even found used hairbrushes in bedrooms and a dead beetle in an oven dish. The outdoor area was particularly disappointing. The garden shown in the listing appears level, turfed, and family-friendly, but in reality, it has not been turfed, was uneven, overgrown, and unsafewith temporary fence panels and wooden pallet leaning against the fence, a scaffolding board in uneven/sloped area and a wheelbarrow full of rubbish left beside the house. This space was a key factor in choosing the property as we were travelling with four young children, one with additional needs and we felt the photos were misleading. Additionally, the bins were full when we arrived, with extra bags stacked on top, and had clearly not been emptied despite it being bin collection day. This left an unpleasant first impression. Although the caretaker eventually addressed the boiler and cut the grass, the other concerns were not dealt with during our stay. We were offered a cleaning visit 2448 hours after arrival, but this would have been highly disruptive and inappropriate, especially after wed already had to clean just to bring the property to a level of cleanliness we were happy to stay in. In terms of the property itself it has potential to be a good holiday let - house is a great size for families or groups and location was good with plenty to do within a 30-60 minute drive. This said, the property gave the impression of being poorly managed, with minimal attention to detail or guest comfort. It does not come across as a professional operation and we would not recommend it to others. Hide
