Offering charm and convenience, this handsome Grade II-listed cottage makes a romantic retreat for couples and a cosy base for small families planning Peak District adventures. With one dog welcome to join you, the welcoming retreat sits in the centre of Winster, which boasts an impressive array of listed buildings and is surrounded by gorgeous scenery. There are great walking routes in the area, including the Limestone Way footpath, which passes close by. For days out, you can reach Matlock, Matlock Bath or Bakewell (all within 6.5 miles), where you can explore a variety of cafes, pubs, restaurants and independent shops (don’t miss some famous Bakewell Pudding!). For a family and dog-friendly treat, head to the Heights of Abraham (5.5 miles), a hilltop park with adventure play and caverns. Or for anyone interested in the grandeur of days gone by, both Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within 8 miles.

This end-of-terrace stone property is set over three storeys and still has some intriguing original features, including multi-pane windows and cottage-style stairs. Enter the lounge and you’ll immediately feel a warm sense of welcome. This cosy space has soft seating centred around a roaring wood burner and a Smart TV, ideal for a quiet evening in with a favourite movie or two. From here, it’s three steps up and through an arch to the well-appointed kitchen/diner, which has a range of vibrant cupboards, plus all the amenities needed to cook up a Peak District feast. Tuck yourselves into the dining area and enjoy sociable meals under the skylight. Laundry facilities and dishwasher are in the utility room to the side. Take the stairs but pause on your way up, as the tall landing window offers a low-access door to the roof terrace. Keep going up and on the first floor you’ll find a sweet twin bedroom and an elegant family shower room with a walk-in shower, while on the top floor is the king-size room, which has a seating nook by the window overlooking the roof garden – a delightful spot for a cup of coffee and a good book.

The outside space is a quirky arrangement: an enclosed terrace with outdoor furniture on the roof of the kitchen extension below. This makes a great spot for an al fresco drink or meal, but please be careful of tripping over the skylights. The parking for this property is on the street, subject to availability.

A quirky cottage in the heart of Winster. Some nice touches and a cracking shower but if youre over 5ft be prepared to duck down here and there - we actually liked that it was different and had some character so dont let this put you off but just thought Id mention it. There are two pubs (the closest is open Thu-Sun, the other one every day). TherRead moree are lots of lovey walks from your door but be prepared to walk up hills .. staying here requires you to be active to get the most out of the area unless you drive. All in all Id say not the most luxurious place weve stayed but great value and in a cracking location Id definitely recommend it but take plenty of wood as the cost log burner encourages you to relax in front of it a lot more than you think you will !
