An exquisite rural hideaway, with country views, this attractive barn conversion sits in beautiful surroundings on the Tendring Peninsula. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom holiday retreat encompasses gorgeous internal and external space for a small family or two couples on a break together and eager to explore this picturesque corner of Essex. Set on land where the owner’s home is also located, it enjoys its privacy and benefits from a walled garden for basking out in the glorious East Anglian sunshine. It is 5.5 miles from Clacton and 9 miles from the sandy beach at fashionable Walton-on-the-Naze. Brightlingsea, which is popular for its water sports and boat trips, is 7 miles away, while Mersea Island, renowned for its beaches, creeks and fresh oysters, is 19.5 miles from the cottage and worth a day trip. Take the children to Colchester Zoo, 17 miles away, and the town’s castle, 11.5 miles away. The picturesque village of St Osyth is just 2.9 miles away, popular with visitors to see the stunning 12th century, Grade I listed priory.

Let yourselves into the enticing barn, which has a traditional Essex weatherboard finish, to discover it has a bright, airy finish, with attention to both comfort and style. Much of the accommodation here is at ground-floor level. A king-size bedroom, with beds that can also be arranged as singles by request, is on the left, together with the impressive family shower room. The immaculate accommodation then opens up to reveal a chic country kitchen/diner, with plenty of room to store and prepare the Essex produce you have sourced on your excursions. Open the table by the window in here to accommodate up to four people. The lounge, where glass doors to the garden can be pulled back on sunny days, is beyond the kitchen/diner. Here you can sink back into the brown leather sofa to watch the Smart TV, read your books or chat about your day. Climb the stairs to the mezzanine level above the lounge to find your second king-size bedroom. Here a glass door and Juliet balcony overlook the garden and countryside.

The lovely walled garden is the perfect place to while away summer days and evenings together. Sit out on the patio beside the cottage or the sundeck beyond the lawn and cook on the BBQ and dine outside in the fresh air. There is private parking for two cars at the cottage.
