Located in the South Devon village of East Prawle, lovingly known as ‘pig country’, this rural cottage offers the perfect bolthole for appreciating the splendour of the surrounding National Landscape. A short 100 metre walk from your doorstep is East Prawle’s famous country pub and also on the village green is a seasonal cafe and shop serving local goods. A protected area consisting of a rugged coastline, towering cliffs and patchwork fields, South Devon lies waiting to be explored. You can hike the South West Coast Path, visit secret bays and hidden gem beaches and cycle between historic, picture-perfect villages. Visit Lannacombe Beach (3.5 miles), an undisturbed, lesser-known destination with a pretty arc of golden sand framed by rock formations and handsome cliffs. Walk to East Portlemouth (3 miles) and board the passenger ferry over to Salcombe (3.5 miles), an eclectic town with shops, restaurants and incredible views of the boats bobbing away in Salcombe Harbour.

The pretty whitewashed facade of this seaside property offers plenty of curb appeal. Step inside to discover so much traditional appeal, including original floorboards, wood-panelled ceilings and sturdy oak furnishings. You’ll enter the garage with space to stow away equipment. Before wandering upstairs on the lower ground floor tucked away is a double bedroom with plenty of storage space and an ensuite shower room. Up the stairs on the first floor, an open-plan living space is set out with a cosy wood burner tucked into the corner. The neat galley kitchen offers utilities and appliances for your mealtime needs, there’s a dining table by the window to sit around together, and there are two cosy sofas positioned opposite a Smart TV for late-night entertainment. Along the hallway, discover two bedrooms. A double bedroom, offering plenty of wardrobe space, and a single bedroom. Although compact, the single also houses an optional z-bed, making it ideal for two children. Completing the first floor, find a family bathroom with a bath for enjoying a luxurious soak.

From the lounge, open the sliding doors and step onto the balcony. Complete with bar-style seating, this outdoor space allows you to catch the last of the day’s sunshine and enjoy a breath of fresh air.

We were really excited about staying in such proximity to the coastal path and this part of the holiday did not disappoint. East Prawle is a very quiet village but has an excellent local pub and also cafe and shop which are handy, and you can walk straight from the village and get onto the coastal path. The cottage, however, was a big disappointRead morement. The cleanliness was a poor standard, the property wasn't tidy and so many items were broken. There were also significant DIY jobs and cosmetic upgrades required- it seemed like it had been done up in a rush by someone who did not enjoy DIY at all! Overall it was not an acceptable standard to be hosting paying guests. This is a shame as it could be an amazing bolthole for staying near Salcombe, it needs an injection of cash and a bit of an overhaul. Hide
