High on a hill in Wookey Hole, this charming terrace cottage offers the ultimate retreat to couples and small families keen to uncover the beautiful Somerset countryside with their dogs. The host village of Wookey Hole is steeped in legend, home to the world-famous Wookey Hole Caves (0.5 miles) where you can explore thousands of years of natural history. Set in the Mendip Hills, the property is a fantastic base for walking, with trails leading in all directions from the front door. Enjoy a vibrant day out in the nearby city of Wells (2 miles), where after exploring the cobbled streets busy with independent shops and places to eat, you can visit the famous Wells Cathedral and the historic Bishop’s Palace. For more local charm, head to the quirky town of Glastonbury (8 miles) where the likes of Glastonbury Tor and the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey await. Also nearby is the RSPB reserve of Ham Wall (11.5 miles) for wildlife watching.

Be welcomed by the well-appointed kitchen which is flooded with natural light and boasts all you need to cook up feasts for your loved ones, perhaps using the local ingredients you sourced earlier in the day. Set your plates on the arched pass that connects to the dining room which has a stove effect heater and Bluetooth radio/CD player, and walk through to enjoy the chef’s work. Afterwards, the diner leads to the welcoming lounge where two comfy sofas, a rocking chair, and a crackling wood burner perched in a stone fireplace set the scene for relaxing evenings together in front of the Smart TV, or pick a book to read or play one of the old fashioned games. When day turns to night, follow the cottage-style stairs to the first floor and find two delightful bedrooms, both of which benefit from the well-equipped family bathroom. These rooms include the main with a king-size bed, an ornamental fireplace, vanity unit and far-reaching views across to Glastonbury Tor, plus a cosy single bedroom which completes the interior.

The peaceful, enclosed garden is accessed through a covered veranda with a table and chairs, providing the perfect suntrap for semi-alfresco meals together. Beyond, the garden is perfect for guests to unwind and catch up on their holiday. A garden seat overlooking a small pond adds to the garden’s tranquillity. On the cottage wall is a handy water tap, useful for washing muddy boots and dogs! While private parking is unavailable, guests will find community parking at the top of the hill, with further roadside parking around the village, all of which is subject to availability.
