  • Charming cottage fixtures and decor, and a peaceful courtyard garden for al fresco meals
  • The perfect base from which to uncover Suffolk’s rich history and splendid countryside
Property code: OC-T30056

This charming home-from-home overlooking a historic market place is perfect for small families and couples hoping to discover Suffolk’s beautiful countryside. The welcoming two-bedroom cottage nestles in pretty Lavenham, one of the UK’s best-preserved medieval villages. Here, winding streets are lined with picturesque houses, independent shops and excellent eateries. Discover the National Trust’s Guildhall which offers family friendly exhibitions, the intriguing Little Hall Museum, and Lavenham’s 14th-century parish church. Uncover more Suffolk village charm with a visit to Long Melford (5 miles) where the imposing Melford Hall awaits with its 17th-century banqueting house, walled gardens and peaceful parkland. Find more local history in the market town of Bury St Edmunds (12 miles) where you can explore its impressive cathedral and beautiful Abbey Gardens. If the surrounding countryside doesn’t inspire you, then a day’s hiking across the Dedham Vale National Landscape (8 miles) certainly will.

Step into this welcoming cottage and find that the village’s historic charm continues inside, complemented by modern, homely comforts. Walk into the social heart of the home, the relaxing lounge/diner. Here, unwind on the sofas after days of adventure, watching your favourite films on the Smart TV. Flick on the flame-effect electric fire on chilly days, which sits in a pretty, ornamental fireplace. When stomachs begin to rumble, lay up the dinner table here and move through to the farmhouse-style kitchen. Find everything you need in this well-appointed space to whip up feasts for your loved ones, perhaps using the local Suffolk ingredients you sourced earlier in the day. When day turns to night, head up the cottage stairs and choose from two delightful bedrooms, a king-size and a double, both of which make use of the well-equipped family bathroom.

Outside, unwind in the peaceful, enclosed courtyard garden. Relax with your holiday read here, enjoy quiet morning coffees and plan al fresco evening meals long into the night. While there is no private parking, roadside parking is available around the property but is subject to availability.

Lovely cottage in the heart of the village, we were taken back by the location then when we entered the cottage it was superb, very clean and comfortable. There was a lovely touch with the welcome pack which came in very handy. Lavenham is wonderful village and from the cottage you can have some great walks, will certainly look to visit again.

A very comfortable cottage in probably the most scenic part of the village. Spectacular views of the Guildhall from the rooms facing the Market. Definitely hope to return.

Beautiful cottage in a perfect location of the beautiful Lavenham village. Would definitely stay here again but needs a better WiFi package as it is so slow you wouldn't be able to work from here if needed too.

Well-presented and well-quipped traditional (yet renovated) old cottage in a perfect location opening onto the market place in Lavenham. It's warm and cosy and was lovely and clean on arrival. Perfect for a week-long stay in the area and dog-friendly too. We arrived at the same time as the switch-on to the accompaniment of mulled wine, mince pies, a brass band and Santa. Very seasonal! Can highly recommend this property. Hide

A lovely cottage in the perfect location on the market place. This is not a cottage for anyone much over 5ft6 but it's full of charm and original features. The kitchen is well-equipped and the living room is comfortable for nights in. It would be a squeeze to get four people round the kitchen table, but great for two. Lovely welcome pack means you Read morecan have a cup of tea and biscuits when you arrive. There are plenty of great places to eat, just a few steps from the cottage. And not one, but two Co-ops. Don't miss the book shop, art gallery, and ice cream parlour. And, if you take your four-legged friend, visit the dog shop for some handmade treats! Hide

The shower was fabulous & the automatic night light. Such a good position! Unfortunately my husband and son kept hitting their heads on the low doorways(not your fault they are so tall). Because my husband had a bleeding head quite often he wouldnt stay here again but otherwise it met all our needs. We wood recommend it to shorter friends .

A well equipped cottage overlooking the stunning market square in lavenham. This truly felt like a gem and the location is excellent. Everything had recently been redecorated and you can tell, the finish is fantastic. The courtyard is stunning and I can imagine would be a great addition especially in summer months. You are right in the centre of laRead morevenham and can easily get to amenities, pubs etc. Parking was easy and overall it was a pleasure to stay here. Nick was very helpful and responsive too. I would not hesitate to recommend Tailors cottage. Hide
