Avid walkers and explorers will be in their element while staying at this beautiful stone holiday home in Penmaenpool, in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. Small families or outdoor-loving couples with the dog in tow will enjoy the property’s fantastic access to the famous Mawddach walking trail which leads to the vibrant market town of Dolgellau (2.5 miles). Here, enjoy a generous selection of independent shops and local events, and sample some of the region’s cuisine in the pubs, cafes and restaurants. Take part in some of Snowdonia’s renowned activities, including climbing, mountain biking, cycling and water sports, all within 20 miles of home. Relaxation is a drive away at the jaw-dropping shores of Barmouth Beach (7 miles), a seaside town famous for its annual activities and fabulous coastline. Finish off the day with an ice-cold pint or a hearty Welsh stew in the nearby pub only 500 metres away.

Park outside this 200-year-old cottage and before entering, take a moment to appreciate its cute stone exterior and the fabulous national park views that surround you. Step inside to find that the Welsh charm continues thanks to the original stone walls, crackling wood burner and gorgeous vistas through the windows. Cook up a well-deserved feast in the well-equipped and stylish kitchen/diner before gathering round the window-side dining table to enjoy the estuary views as you enjoy the chef’s work. After dinner, rest weary walking muscles in the inviting lounge, stoking the wood burner and reclining in the cosy seating as the Smart TV streams your favourite shows. At the end of each day away, head upstairs to choose from two pretty, scenic bedrooms. Find a spacious master king-size room with a Smart TV and well-appointed shower room, and a cosy twin which makes use of the sizeable family bathroom.

Outside, the enclosed garden has plenty of space to unwind and embrace the scenery from sunrise to sunset. Bask in your private wood-fired hot tub, light up the BBQ and enjoy a feast in the sunshine. You could even treat yourself to a toasty dessert of marshmallows on the fire pit. Store bikes, paddle boards and other outdoor gear in the secure shed and make full use of the four private parking spaces.

The cottage was beautifully appointed. Stephen was a friendly, fantastic host. Really enjoyed the log burner made the living room lovely and warm and comforting. Great location for the Mawddach trail with a short cut from the cottage and the beaches either side of the estuary. Great pub in the village too.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at the house. It has been refurbished to a very high standard inside and out. It had the best equipped kitchen I've ever seen! It's cosy and comfortable and in a fantastic spot overlooking the Mawdach Trail. It's a short walk or drive to the George III pub which is excellent for both food and drinks. Stephen, the owRead morener, was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again. Hide
