We had a wonderful staycation here with our 8 yr old and our dog. The home is so welcoming, everything feels newly done and very well equipped. There was amazing attention to detail and we felt right at home. The garden and patio deserve special mention with beautiful views of the river. Will definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed at the Auld Pigsty with our two dogs over New Year and into the first week of January. The layout of the property is very nice and two couples or a family with older children would have a nice level of privacy. Although the bedroom at the front of the property would get a lot of road noise, both bedrooms are a good size and Read morethe en suites are fitted out beautifully. The kitchen / lounge / diner is ample for a couple. May be abit cosy if four people were staying. Our only negatives from the property would be the heating which when we arrived the warmest room was 15 degrees and the coldest being 11 degrees, I reached out to the owners who did come round straight away and the answer was just turn it up this didnt make a lot of difference. There is no secondary heating only underfloor heating. After around 4 hours of the heating being turned up to 30 degrees the temperature had only risen by 1 degree. We reached out again and the owners brought us one small fan heater (which was borrowed from someone else) and had a plumber come and check the system the following day who said there was nothing wrong. The hallway never reached more than 17 degrees and front bedroom never reached more than around 15 degrees despite the heating being on constantly. No one would be able to comfortably stay in the front bedroom without a further heater of some kind. Our other negative was the cleanliness of certain places. The windows (mainly the patio doors) were filthy inside and out. As soon as the sun shone on them you couldnt see out of them. I ended up cleaning them myself just so we could actually enjoy the view. Also as another review had mentioned, iron the bedsheets! Its a simple thing and makes the place seem more looked after and clean. The sheets after a couple of days looked terrible and horrible creased. With a few simple attentions to detail this place would be amazing. The patio area of the garden is nice and a great little sun trap. The shared garden is fine for dogs to stretch their legs and gives a nice view over the river. Overall the property is nice but cold in the winter, we would rebook but something would have to be done about the heating! Hide

if you are looking for comfort and things that you would expect then this is not for you. as another review mentioned not for them then i would agree, little things missing for comfort hard towels bedroom linen not ironed no wardrobe or hanging eqiptment ,under floor heating we got more eat from the sun coming in the windows than we did with the heRead moreating so at night time it can be cold. great beds great shower once you can work it and you get overjumping into bed with all linen not ironed , these 2 things made as start to look overall so right from the start it was downhll . plus the week before we arrived we got the details and it stated that there could be work being done in the shared garden fortunatly the weather may have stopped this happening. House was really nice, plenty of space in all the rooms and the garden area was fine for use on sunny days. Although the only available parking is on the street, we never had an issue.

We stayed here with two dogs, so the enclosed shared garden was a bonus. A very well appointed and comfortable property. Cracking views towards the river - some fine sunrises - and the garden (although part of it is still a wee bit of a work in progress as at December 2024) is spacious and really added to the holiday. It's ideal for the dogs, and the house is perfectly situated as a base for taking them out on longeRead morer walks anyway. The fact that the pub (The Besom) a couple of hundred yards down the road is very dog friendly and does decent food didn't hurt either. The bedrooms and ensuites are first class. Huge comfy beds - the showers are significantly better than we have at home, to be honest. Great location, everything was spotless, everything worked, and we had a great week. Hide
