This stylish and comfortable cottage is a tranquil retreat for couples, friends or families in the heart of Devon’s gorgeous countryside. Surrounded by delightful walks, cycle trails, and rural towns and villages, it’s located in the traditional village of Lapford, where you’ll find a children’s playground and a 16th-century pub (0.5 miles), offering a relaxed atmosphere and mouth-watering menu. The village also has a request stop on the Tarka Railway Line, which runs between Exeter and Barnstaple; it’s a picturesque way to explore this scenic area. The national parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor are both within 20 miles, while the historic market town of Crediton is just 10 miles, for a selection of independent shops, tea rooms and pubs, plus a bustling farmers’ market. For more retail therapy, head to the cathedral city of Exeter (17 miles), which boasts a magnificent cathedral, historic quayside and unique underground passages.
Natural textures and pale colours combine to create a feeling of rural simplicity in this relaxed cottage. The spacious lounge/dining room has pale walls and a wooden floor, with a warming wood burner set within a brick fireplace, a selection of seating, and a Smart TV with Bose surround system. The dining table, which is extendable to seat up to 6 guests, is set by the window. A pair of glazed doors lead into the charming kitchen, which includes an Aga, an electric oven and hob for cooking, as well as a dishwasher. This in turn leads to a very handy utility area where you’ll find a fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. Stairs lead from the corner of the lounge to the first floor, where there are lovely exposed wooden beams and some areas of sloping ceiling. All three pretty bedrooms are on this level, sharing the large family bathroom.
There is a garden, private to the cottage across the small track, where you can sit and enjoy the fresh air. There is also a BBQ and fire pit, perfect for sundowners. Garage parking and additional off-road parking for one car.
